Due to an internal promotion, Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Assistant Director of Housekeeping to support the overall leadership and daily operations of the Housekeeping Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and service standards expected at a luxury oceanfront resort. The Assistant Director of Housekeeping will partner closely with the Director of Housekeeping to oversee housekeeping operations, develop and motivate associates, maximize productivity, manage departmental expenses, and ensure a consistently outstanding guest experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who demonstrates strong operational knowledge, accountability, effective communication, and a passion for hospitality. This individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced resort environment while maintaining high standards of service, teamwork, and operational excellence. Essential Job Responsibilities Housekeeping Operations & Quality Assurance

Assist the Director of Housekeeping in overseeing all daily housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, suites, public areas, and other assigned resort facilities.

Ensure all guest accommodations and public spaces consistently meet Omni Hotels & Resorts cleanliness, presentation, and quality standards.

Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, storage areas, and housekeeping workspaces to identify opportunities for improvement.

Monitor daily room assignments, room readiness, staffing levels, and operational priorities to support timely guest arrivals and departures.

Partner with the Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to ensure effective communication regarding room status, maintenance needs, and guest requests.

Ensure housekeeping equipment, cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities are properly maintained, stored, and utilized.

Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns related to housekeeping, ensuring appropriate resolution and follow-up.

Support consistent execution of departmental standard operating procedures and resort service expectations.

Leadership & Associate Development

Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to housekeeping managers, supervisors, room attendants, housepersons, and public area associates.

Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment that promotes teamwork, associate engagement, and retention.

Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and development of housekeeping associates.

Conduct departmental meetings, daily briefings, and training sessions to reinforce service expectations, safety practices, and operational priorities.

Identify high-potential associates and support their professional growth and advancement.

Address performance concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with the Director of Housekeeping and Human Resources.

Lead by example through professionalism, visibility, approachability, and a commitment to Omni's service culture.

Financial Management & Productivity

Assist in developing and managing departmental labor budgets, operating expenses, and supply costs.

Monitor daily labor productivity, staffing efficiency, overtime, and room-cleaning performance to ensure effective resource utilization.

Analyze occupancy forecasts, arrival and departure patterns, and business demands to make appropriate staffing recommendations.

Maintain accountability for linen inventory, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, and housekeeping equipment.

Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve operational efficiency, and control expenses without compromising service quality.

Support departmental inventory counts, purchasing procedures, and expense reporting.

Review departmental performance metrics and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

Guest Satisfaction & Service Excellence

Promote a guest-first culture by ensuring all housekeeping associates understand the importance of cleanliness, attention to detail, and personalized service.

Monitor guest feedback, service recovery opportunities, and housekeeping-related satisfaction trends.

Work collaboratively with resort leadership to address recurring guest concerns and implement sustainable improvements.

Ensure special guest requests, VIP accommodations, and priority room assignments receive appropriate attention.

Maintain a proactive approach to identifying and resolving service challenges before they negatively affect the guest experience.

Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection

Ensure compliance with applicable health, sanitation, workplace safety, and environmental regulations.

Reinforce proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment.

Conduct routine safety inspections and support ongoing associate safety training.

Partner with Engineering to identify and report maintenance deficiencies, preventative maintenance needs, and guest room repair priorities.

Ensure adherence to resort policies regarding lost and found, guest privacy, key control, and property security.

Maintain departmental readiness for internal inspections, quality assurance reviews, and safety audits.

Administrative & Departmental Support

Assist the Director of Housekeeping with departmental scheduling, payroll review, attendance management, reporting, and operational planning.

Maintain accurate records related to staffing, inspections, productivity, inventory, and training.

Participate in resort leadership meetings and communicate relevant operational updates to the housekeeping team.

Support implementation of new initiatives, service enhancements, and departmental improvement plans.

Assume responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the Director of Housekeeping.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the resort.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a hotel or resort environment.

Previous experience as an Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Manager, Assistant Director of Housekeeping, or comparable leadership position.

Strong understanding of housekeeping operations, guest room inspection standards, staffing, scheduling, and labor productivity.

Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team of hospitality professionals.

Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple operational priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Experience with departmental budgeting, inventory management, and expense control.

Proficiency with hotel property management systems, Microsoft Office, and housekeeping-related technology.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak occupancy periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous leadership experience in a luxury hotel, full-service resort, or high-volume hospitality environment.

Experience managing housekeeping operations for a large property with significant seasonal occupancy fluctuations.

Familiarity with luxury hospitality service standards and quality assurance programs.

Experience developing training programs, improving productivity, and implementing operational improvements.

Bilingual communication skills, particularly English and Spanish, are a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout guest room floors, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.

Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and perform other physical activities associated with housekeeping inspections and operational support.

Ability to lift, push, or pull items consistent with established position requirements and applicable safety guidelines.

Comfortable working in a dynamic resort environment with varying business levels and seasonal demands.

Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor areas of an oceanfront resort as operationally required.
