About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Role

The Accounting & Payments Coordinator supports One Acre Fund DRC’s operations by ensuring timely, accurate and properly authorized payments, complete expense documentation, and reliable financial records across all program sites.

Responsibilities

Payment Processing

  • Review payment requests submitted by departments to verify their completeness, accuracy, supporting documentation and required approvals, in accordance with internal policies.
  • Determine the appropriate payment method—bank transfer, cheque, cash or an approved mobile money channel—based on internal procedures, transaction requirements, security considerations and available funds.
  • Prepare bank transfers, cheques and other payment instructions for authorized approval and release;
  • Monitor payments through to confirmation, investigate failed or delayed transactions, and retain proof of payment.
  • Support Procurement in assessing supplier payment arrangements, including payment methods, advances and payment upon delivery
  • Keep requesting departments informed of payment status, missing requirements and anticipated delays, including changes affecting agreed service timelines.

Expense Documentation and Advance Reconciliation

  • Maintain a tracker of staff and supplier advances, including responsible parties, supporting documentation requirements, reconciliation deadlines and outstanding balances.
  • Collect and review advance reconciliations and expense reports to confirm that expenditure is supported by a complete, valid and consistent documentation package.
  • Follow up with suppliers on outstanding invoices, billing discrepancies and requests for clarification, coordinating with Procurement and requesting departments as needed.
  • Escalate overdue reconciliations, unresolved discrepancies and recurring documentation gaps to the manager.
  • Maintain an organized and accessible archive of payment and expense records, linking requests, approvals, invoices, receipts, reconciliation forms and proof of payment in accordance with document retention requirements.

Cash Management

  • Coordinate approved cash allocations and transfers between sites to support operational needs while maintaining appropriate transaction records.
  • Act as custodian of the Kinshasa office cashbox, ensuring secure custody of funds, disbursement against approved documentation, timely recording of transactions and daily cash balancing.
  • Identify practical opportunities to reduce cash usage and promote approved electronic payment methods without disrupting field operations.

Account Reconciliation

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all country bank and cash accounts, including across all sites, within the agreed closing calendar.
  • Perform weekly reconciliations of sales collections received through mobile money, where applicable, against transaction records and related settlements.
  • Maintain accurate accounting trackers, including the lease repository, fixed asset register, register of non-capitalized equipment, etc.
  • Provide complete and timely supporting documentation and explanations to the Global Accounting team for transaction recording, monthly closing and financial reporting.
  • Respond to accounting queries and coordinate corrections with the Global Accounting team, seeking the manager’s guidance on complex or judgment-based matters.

We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
