The posting
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct site assessments and infrastructure reviews to identify business priorities, connectivity needs and operational constraints. Define the proposed scope, evaluate solution options and prepare business cases explaining costs, benefits and operational impact.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project delivery, and sales teams to ensure solutions are practical, deliverable, and aligned with client needs.
• Identify and assess network and IT infrastructure risks, including service outages, capacity limitations, equipment obsolescence and security weaknesses. Evaluate operational and financial impact, maintain risk registers, and implement approved mitigation measures such as redundancy, backup configurations and recovery procedures.
• Plan, assess, implement and document network changes, ensuring proper testing, approval, communication and rollback planning to minimize service disruption and operational risk.
• Document network configurations, incident resolutions, and system changes for internal knowledge management.
• Monitor, identify, contain and support the resolution of network security incidents and potential data breaches, while documenting and escalating incidents appropriately.
• Maintain working knowledge of relevant platforms and standards (e.g. Cisco/CCNP, Fortinet, Microsoft), using these as reference points to guide solution design and troubleshooting.
• Establish network design principles covering connectivity, capacity, availability, security, access and interoperability. Produce physical and logical infrastructure designs, topology diagrams and technical specifications for enterprise and IT/OT environments, including SDN where applicable.
• Perform network maintenance activities, including monitoring, patching, and performance optimisation.
• Design, configure, and support network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, and network security components.
• Design and implement network protection, detection and response controls, including network segmentation, firewall policies, secure remote access and intrusion detection or prevention. Assess security weaknesses, validate the effectiveness of controls and refine network security designs to address identified threats.
• Perform network maintenance activities, including monitoring, patching, and performance optimisation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve systems and network issues, providing timely incident response to minimise downtime.
• Design, configure, and support network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, and network security components.
• Maintain working knowledge of relevant platforms and standards (e.g. Cisco/CCNP, Fortinet, Microsoft), using these as reference points to guide solution design and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project delivery, and sales teams to ensure solutions are practical, deliverable, and aligned with client needs.
• Document network configurations, incident resolutions, and system changes for internal knowledge management.
• Plan and carry out network testing to verify connectivity, performance, security and reliability before new configurations or infrastructure changes are deployed.
• Coordinate with network equipment and service vendors for technical support, maintenance, issue resolution, upgrades and service performance, ensuring agreed requirements and SLAs are met.
Requirements
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
• Familiarity with Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft platforms and relevant networking standards. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent are an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network, system and connectivity issues.
• Ability to plan, test, document and implement infrastructure changes while minimising operational disruption.
• Ability to evaluate technical solutions, assess costs and risks, support IT procurement, and coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Good communication, coordination and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
