About the Role

Join OpenEye's Quality Engineering organization as a Software QA Specialist II, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of OpenEye's cloud video, AI analytics, and hardware-integrated solutions.

As an experienced quality professional, you will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Technical Support, and fellow Quality professionals to validate customer-facing functionality, identify product risks, and drive quality improvements throughout the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines strong manual testing expertise with growing technical capabilities, a deep understanding of product behavior, and the ability to contribute to test planning, investigation, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and stakeholders throughout Agile development cycles to ensure quality is built into products from planning through release.
  • Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify quality risks and develop effective test coverage strategies.
  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, exploratory tests, and regression suites across cloud, web, firmware, hardware, and integrated platform solutions.
  • Validate product functionality, usability, reliability, APIs, integrations, and customer workflows to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
  • Investigate, document, reproduce, and verify defects through resolution, including analysis of customer-reported issues and collection of diagnostic data.
  • Execute and maintain automated test suites, analyze test results, and collaborate with Software Engineers in Test (SETs) to expand automated test coverage.
  • Perform API testing, database validation, log analysis, and technical troubleshooting to support feature validation and root cause investigation.
  • Utilize automation tools, AI-assisted testing solutions, and modern quality engineering practices to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and effectiveness.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness activities, providing a quality-focused perspective throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, mentor junior team members, and share product, testing, and technical knowledge across the organization.

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of software quality assurance, software testing, or related experience in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design, defect management, risk-based testing, and root cause investigation.
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases, exploratory tests, and regression test suites.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques.
  • Experience analyzing application logs and troubleshooting complex software issues.
  • Experience executing, maintaining, or contributing to automated test suites, with a strong understanding of test automation concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with web applications, cloud platforms, client/server architectures, and hardware-integrated systems.
  • Experience using Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps or similar agile, quality and defect management tools.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools and modern quality engineering practices is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, with a passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences.
  • Continuous learning mindset with an interest in expanding technical, automation, and quality engineering capabilities.
  • Ability to work on site at our Liberty Lake, WA headquarters.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
