Future Talent Opportunity | AI & Emerging Technologies

Opera is always interested in connecting with exceptional software engineers who can help shape and build the next generation of intelligent, user-centric products. This is an ongoing talent opportunity designed to connect with experienced professionals for anticipated future hiring needs and may not represent an immediate vacancy.

We are particularly interested in engineers who combine strong software engineering fundamentals with architectural thinking and hands-on technical depth. You could work across Opera’s browser products, helping turn AI and emerging technologies into scalable product capabilities used by millions of people worldwide.

This opportunity is designed for experienced engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, exploring new technologies and staying close to implementation while influencing how products and systems are built.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and build complex, production-ready software systems and product capabilities.
  • Shape architecture and technical approaches for new features, systems and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Explore and evaluate AI, LLMs and other emerging technologies and identify practical opportunities to apply them within Opera products.
  • Prototype new concepts and turn successful experiments into scalable, reliable production solutions.
  • Remain hands-on across coding, system design, technical experimentation, debugging and optimization.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges related to performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Design and other technical teams to move ideas from concept to production.
  • Contribute to technical decision-making, engineering standards and best practices.
  • Share technical expertise and support other engineers through mentoring, design reviews and knowledge sharing.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical depth in building and designing complex production systems.
  • Strong hands-on programming skills in one or more languages such as C++, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or similar.
  • Experience taking technical ownership of complex systems or initiatives, including architecture, technical decision-making and hands-on implementation.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, algorithms, data structures, APIs, testing and software architecture.
  • Practical understanding of modern AI technologies, including LLMs, generative AI or intelligent systems, and an interest in applying them to real product experiences.
  • Experience taking technical solutions from exploration and prototyping through production delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively across technologies rather than being limited to a single framework or stack.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience integrating LLMs, generative AI, multimodal AI, intelligent agents, recommendation systems or other AI capabilities into production software.
  • Experience with browser technologies, search, desktop applications or complex consumer-facing products.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure or high-performance software.
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, RAG or vector search.
  • Experience building products operating at significant scale.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring other engineers.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
