About Finergi

Finergi builds payment and technology services for utility payments across Africa. In Zambia, we run a technology platform for the sale and distribution of prepaid electricity tokens through mobile money and other channels, and provide the platform, integration and settlement services behind licensed payment partners and mobile money operators.

Our platform is hosted in-country and connects to the utility, mobile operators and banks. We're building a regulated payment business in Zambia, and we're looking for the people who will make it run.

About the role

You'll be responsible for the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of our financial records, regulatory returns, tax filings and reconciliations in Zambia — making sure we meet our obligations to the Bank of Zambia, the Zambia Revenue Authority, our auditors and our partners.

It's a hands-on, detail-driven role in a high-volume, pre-funded business: the daily float and settlement reconciliations matter as much as the annual accounts. You'll work within a delegated authority framework set by Group, which leads on strategy, budgets, pricing, funding and treasury.

You'll report to Group Finance, with a direct line to the Board of Finergi Solutions Limited on regulatory and governance matters.

What you'll do

■ Maintain the books and general ledger under IFRS and the Companies Act, and run the monthly close, management accounts and Group reporting packs

■ Prepare the annual financial statements for Group review and Board approval

■ Prepare, sign and submit Bank of Zambia financial and statistical returns on time, and support inspections and information requests

■ File all ZRA returns — corporate income tax, provisional tax, PAYE, withholding tax and VAT — and make statutory remittances to NAPSA, NHIMA and the Workers' Compensation Fund

■ Reconcile the pre-funded float, token sales and settlement with the utility and partner payment service providers every day, and resolve breaks quickly

■ Stop any issuance, settlement or payment that would breach float limits, controls or delegated authority, and escalate immediately

■ Manage our banking relationships in Zambia and act as a joint signatory within the Board-approved mandate

■ Process supplier payments, payroll and statutory payments within delegated limits

■ Lead the relationship with our external auditors, prepare audit schedules and track findings to closure

■ Operate and document local financial controls, including segregation of duties and record retention

■ Support the Chief Compliance Officer on AML/CFT obligations, flagging unusual patterns in funding, settlement or payments

What you'll bring

■ Current ZICA membership at Associate (Chartered Accountant) grade or above, in good standing

■ A recognised professional accountancy qualification such as CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA

■ At least 5 years in accounting or finance, including 3 years post-qualification

■ At least 2 years in a bank, financial institution, payment service provider, mobile money operator, fintech or other regulated entity

■ Hands-on experience of regulatory reporting, ZRA filings, bank reconciliations and audit liaison

■ Working knowledge of IFRS, Zambian tax law and the Bank of Zambia payment systems framework

■ Strong accounting software and spreadsheet skills, and accuracy with high transaction volumes

■ High integrity, sound judgement and discipline around deadlines

■ Ordinarily resident in Zambia, with the right to live and work here

■ Able to meet the Bank of Zambia fit and proper requirements

Nice to have

■ A degree in accounting, finance or a related field

■ Experience in prepaid, utility payments or other settlement-heavy businesses

■ Experience working within a group structure and delegated authority framework

■ Exposure to AML/CFT and Financial Intelligence Centre requirements

Why join

■ A key role in building a regulated payment business in Zambia

■ Direct access to the Board and Group Finance

■ Part of a growing group operating across multiple African markets

■ A competitive package

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
