The posting

The role

At Ore Energy, we are on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably harness and use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers.

We are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on Hardware Engineer to join our Product Development team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will contribute directly to the design, schematic capture, PCB development, bring-up, and validation of electronic hardware used across our Battery Energy Storage Systems.

You will work on control, monitoring, and measurement electronics that govern our BESS containers, as well as dedicated test hardware and bring-up boards used to validate our technology. You should be comfortable in the laboratory, enjoy working close to physical hardware, and thrive on systematically solving real-world electronics challenges in a fast-paced deep-tech scale-up environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Electronic Hardware Design: Design, develop, and test electronic circuits and PCBs for measurement, sensing, system control, communication, and auxiliary functions within our BESS containers.
  • Schematic Capture & PCB Layout: Translate high-level system and hardware requirements into robust schematics and PCB layouts, considering signal integrity, noise reduction, grounding, thermal management, and design robustness.
  • Analog & Mixed-Signal Development: Develop, simulate, and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits, including sensor interfaces, signal conditioning, ADC/DAC interfaces, filtering, power supply regulation, and protection circuitry.
  • Hardware Bring-Up & Debugging: Perform hands-on board bring-up, signal verification, troubleshooting, rework, and root-cause analysis using standard laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, logic analyzers).
  • Embedded Hardware Interfaces: Design and validate hardware interfaces for microcontrollers, embedded gateways, and field devices using industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, I2C, SPI, UART).
  • Simulation & Engineering Analysis: Utilize circuit simulation tools (LTspice, PSpice, or similar) to support design verification, worst-case circuit analysis, and tolerance testing prior to prototyping.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and component development teams to validate, integrate, and industrialize next-generation storage products.

Your profile

  • Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in electronics development or hardware engineering.
  • PCB Design & Tools: Proven experience with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout using standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, Siemens Xpedition, PADS, or similar).
  • Analog & Circuit Fundamentals: Solid understanding of analog/mixed-signal design, op-amps, ADCs, sensor signal conditioning, filtering, decoupling, grounding techniques, and circuit protection.
  • Communication Interfaces: Practical experience designing hardware for serial and industrial interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, RS-485).
  • Hands-On Lab Skills: Demonstrated experience in PCB bring-up, board-level debugging, soldering/rework, and hardware validation using electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Simulation: Familiarity with simulation and modeling tools (LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Domain Experience (Strong Advantage): Background in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy, automotive/industrial electronics, power conversion, or sensor systems.
  • Embedded Systems (Bonus): Exposure to microcontroller architecture, basic firmware bring-up, or embedded software modifications is considered an advantage.
  • Languages & Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, self-driven work ethic, and fluent written and spoken English.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
