Position Highlights
The Clatsop County Circuit Court in Astoria, Oregon, is hiring a part-time Court Clerk (Court Operations Specialist).
In this role, you will manage cases filed with the court from start to finish. This includes reviewing filings for accuracy and completeness, entering data into the case management system, and working with judges, supervisors, and other court staff to determine appropriate next steps. You will review cases and reports, ensuring that all deadlines are met. You will also help determine workload priorities, maintain desk manuals, and update resource materials.
Customer service is a key part of this position, and the support you provide will be in person, over the phone, through video, and in writing. You will explain OJD policies and court procedures to attorneys, litigants, the public, and other interested parties. You will answer questions about the status of cases and the court calendar. You will also provide general technical troubleshooting for the court’s public computer kiosks, remote court appearances, the court’s public-facing website, and electronic filings.
You will spend part of your time performing cashiering duties, including accepting and receipting payments. You will also help orient and train new employees as needed.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications
(These must be evident in your resume or work history.) The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
AND
Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience, in a moderately complex office or business setting, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

- Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative tasks with strict deadlines in a professional setting.
- Experience maintaining accuracy while multitasking, despite frequent interruptions or distracting surroundings.
- Experience using a computer and different applications to accomplish a variety of tasks that involve data entry, looking up accounts or cases, scheduling events in electronic calendars, and updating information.
- Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
- Experience handling cash or credit card transactions and generating receipts.
Working Conditions
- This is a part-time (.5 FTE, 20 hours per week) position. The work schedule is to be determined but is expected to fall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for straight-time compensation for up to 40 hours and is eligible for overtime compensation for any hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
