About Origin

Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.

About the role

Origin is hiring two Manufacturing Engineering Interns. The role is for fresh graduates who want to learn how a robot moves from design to build. You will keep the robot's CAD assembly drawings current, support assembly on the floor, and run inventory and kitting for our products: MOMA (AMR, Tower, Planner), the Sander and Sprayer tool systems, Tool Stations and accessories.

Our robots change fast. Assembly drawings fall behind the CAD, kits are built from stale lists, and technicians wait while someone finds the right part or revision. You close that gap. You keep the Onshape assembly drawings and instructions in step with the latest released design, work beside technicians during builds, and keep parts counted, binned and kitted so that every build starts with a complete kit. The work is hands-on and detailed, and sits between the design team and the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

1. CAD assembly drawings

  • Update Onshape assembly drawings, exploded views, balloons and bills of materials when the design changes, working from released change notices.
  • Check every drawing against the released model: part numbers, revisions, quantities, fasteners, torque notes and orientation notes.
  • Flag mismatches between the model, the drawing and the part tracker, and send them back to the design owner instead of guessing.
  • Keep drawing files, STEP and STL exports and revision history named and filed to the team's naming rule.
  • Make simple edits to existing parts and drawings (a dimension, a note, a view) once trained; new part design stays with the design team.

2. Assembly support

  • Support technicians during sub-assembly and final build: read the instruction sheet, confirm the right part and revision, and clear questions on the spot.
  • Record build issues in the assembly log: a part that does not fit, a missing note, a wrong quantity, a tool that is not suitable.
  • Help set up and use jigs, fixtures and standard assembly tools; follow torque, threadlocker and torque-marking rules.
  • Support robotic and semi-automated assembly steps, such as loading, teach checks and cycle checks, under the guidance of the lead engineer.
  • Do basic incoming checks on parts against the drawing: dimensions, finish, thread fit and visible damage.

3. Inventory management and kitting

  • Receive, count, label and bin parts, and keep stock in the tracker accurate.
  • Build kits for each sub-assembly and robot from the bill of materials; check each kit against the list before it goes to the line.
  • Raise shortages early to inventory and procurement, with the part number, quantity and the build date it affects.
  • Run regular stock counts and reconcile differences; keep fasteners and small parts organised and easy to find.
  • Keep the kit readiness view up to date so that planning knows which builds can start.

Requirements

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, completed in 2025 or 2026, or finishing this year.
  • Basic Onshape skills: read assemblies and drawings, make a simple part and assembly, and export STEP, STL or PDF; a college project, portfolio or certificate shows it.
  • Reads engineering drawings and knows basic GD&T symbols, fits and tolerances.
  • Comfortable in a workshop: hand tools, torque wrenches, calipers and micrometers.
  • Works well in spreadsheets: sorting, filters, lookups, and keeping a tracker accurate.
  • Careful and tidy by habit; double-checks part numbers and quantities.
  • Clear in written and spoken English; can explain a problem to a technician and to a designer.

Good to have

  • Hands-on build experience from a college robotics, Formula or Baja team, or a lab project.
  • Knowledge of fasteners, sheet metal, machining and 3D printing basics.
  • Exposure to pneumatics, linear guides or simple electromechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with ERP, inventory or barcode systems, or Google Sheets scripts.
  • Interest in robotics and in how a product moves from design to build.

Benefits

  • Hands-on work on real robots, from CAD to the shop floor, with the team that builds them.
  • Training in Onshape drawings, release and change control, and production kitting.
  • Mentorship from the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and the electromechanical design team.
  • A path to a full-time role for strong interns.
  • Work directly with the founders and the tech team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
