The posting

Orion Innovation is a premier, award-winning, global business and technology services firm. Orion delivers game-changing business transformation and product development rooted in digital strategy, experience design, and engineering, with a unique combination of agility, scale, and maturity. We work with a wide range of clients across many industries including financial services, professional services, telecommunications and media, consumer products, automotive, industrial automation, professional sports and entertainment, life sciences, ecommerce, and education.

Project Overview

The role focuses on defining and implementing enterprise-wide Observability and DevOps standards to improve application performance, reliability, security, and engineering efficiency. The architect will lead Dynatrace-based observability transformation as the primary responsibility, with DevOps and DevSecOps standards as a secondary focus.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Architect to define, govern, and drive enterprise Observability Gold Standards, with mandatory hands-on Dynatrace SaaS expertise. The role will own observability strategy, reference architectures, technology evaluations, Proofs of Value (POVs), implementation, and enterprise adoption across applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, databases, APIs, and distributed systems.

The individual must combine enterprise architecture leadership with deep technical expertise, complex troubleshooting capabilities, and hands-on implementation experience. The role also defines and drives DevOps and DevSecOps standards covering CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and secure software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

. Enterprise Observability & Dynatrace Architecture — Primary

  • Define enterprise Observability Strategy, Gold Standards, reference architectures, technology roadmaps, and governance.
  • Own Dynatrace SaaS architecture, configuration, deployment patterns, OneAgent, ActiveGate, instrumentation, access controls, tagging, and platform optimization.
  • Establish observability standards for APM, infrastructure, cloud, Kubernetes, databases, APIs, distributed tracing, logs, metrics, synthetic monitoring, and digital experience monitoring.
  • Define telemetry collection, instrumentation, application onboarding, dashboards, alerting, Golden Signals, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and performance baselines.
  • Establish reusable observability patterns for microservices, cloud-native, serverless, legacy, and hybrid applications.

2. Implementation, AIOps & Troubleshooting — Primary

  • Lead hands-on implementation and enterprise adoption of Dynatrace and Observability Gold Standards across applications and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex application performance, distributed tracing, infrastructure, OneAgent, ActiveGate, telemetry ingestion, and monitoring configuration issues.
  • Implement event correlation, anomaly detection, alert noise reduction, root-cause analysis, and actionable incident detection.
  • Integrate Dynatrace with ServiceNow ITSM and relevant AIOps, incident management, and operational automation platforms.
  • Drive observability-led operational improvements, including reduced Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR), improved availability, and increased reliability.
  • Assess existing monitoring maturity, identify gaps, and develop implementation and remediation roadmaps.

3. Technology Evaluation & Enterprise Adoption

  • Lead technology assessments, hands-on evaluations, POVs, technical demonstrations, and build-versus-buy-versus-partner recommendations.
  • Evaluate observability and AIOps capabilities, integrations, scalability, security, and enterprise applicability.
  • Drive adoption through architecture reviews, engineering workshops, technical evangelization, and collaboration with application, cloud, SRE, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Establish adoption metrics, compliance scorecards, and continuous improvement practices.

4. DevOps & DevSecOps Standards — Secondary

  • Define and govern enterprise DevOps and DevSecOps Gold Standards, reference architectures, reusable components, and engineering Golden Paths.
  • Establish best practices for source control, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, automated testing, artifact management, containers, Kubernetes, GitOps, and release management.
  • Define secure pipeline practices covering SAST, DAST, SCA, container security, IaC security, secrets management, and policy enforcement.
  • Evaluate DevOps tooling, develop reusable pipeline templates and automation patterns, and drive implementation across application teams.
  • Assess engineering maturity and improve deployment automation, security, compliance, and delivery efficiency.

5. Architecture Assets & Governance

  • Maintain reusable enterprise assets, including Observability and DevSecOps Gold Standards, reference architectures, Dynatrace configurations, dashboards, alerting templates, onboarding frameworks, CI/CD templates, IaC modules, implementation runbooks, maturity assessments, POV frameworks, and Architecture Decision Records.
  • Establish architecture governance and adoption metrics to measure compliance, operational improvements, engineering efficiency, and business outcomes.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of overall experience in technology architecture, application performance engineering, infrastructure, observability, or related disciplines.
  • Mandatory, strong hands-on Dynatrace SaaS expertise, including architecture, configuration, implementation, application onboarding, and enterprise-scale adoption.
  • Deep knowledge of Dynatrace APM, OneAgent, ActiveGate, distributed tracing, service topology, Davis AI capabilities, anomaly detection, and root-cause analysis.
  • Proven experience defining observability architectures, instrumentation standards, dashboards, alerting, Golden Signals, SLIs, SLOs, and performance baselines.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across complex applications, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, databases, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience integrating Dynatrace with ServiceNow ITSM, APIs, AIOps platforms, and operational automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technology POVs, define enterprise standards, and drive hands-on implementation and adoption.
  • Strong working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform/IaC, containers, Kubernetes, GitOps, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Proven enterprise architecture, stakeholder management, technical evangelization, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenTelemetry, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • SRE, reliability engineering, incident management, and operational automation experience.
  • Familiarity with complementary observability platforms such as Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Relevant Dynatrace certifications or equivalent demonstrated technical expertise.

Success Measures

  • Enterprise adoption and compliance with Observability Gold Standards.
  • Increased application and infrastructure observability coverage.
  • Improved MTTD, MTTR, application availability, and SLO attainment.
  • Reduced alert noise, incident recurrence, and troubleshooting effort.
  • Standardized Dynatrace configurations, integrations, dashboards, and onboarding.
  • Improved CI/CD standardization, automation, security, and engineering efficiency.

Candidate Profile: An enterprise architect who combines deep, hands-on Dynatrace SaaS expertise with observability strategy, complex troubleshooting, AIOps integration, and enterprise implementation leadership. DevOps and DevSecOps are important secondary competencies; observability and Dynatrace remain the primary hiring criteria.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
