Pay: $178,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

  • Join a nationally respected litigation boutique where you'll do substantive, complex work across two dynamic practice areas — consumer product compliance and environmental law — without the bureaucratic drag of a large firm
  • Defend high-profile matters including Proposition 65 lawsuits, California Legal Remedies Act claims, Unfair Competition and False Advertising claims, property contamination cases, and federal Clean Water Act citizen suits
  • Get client-facing experience early and often — this firm puts associates in the room, not behind the scenes
  • A clear, realistic path to shareholder for those who invest in their own professional development — no moving goalposts
  • Collaborate with a tight-knit, inclusive team that takes diversity seriously and builds loyalty that lasts
  • Competitive compensation plus full coverage of your health and dental insurance premiums and 30% of dependent premiums — a genuinely generous benefits package
  • Substantial bonus potential: hours-based bonuses up to 45% of base salary, plus annual merit-based bonuses tied to results, contributions, and business development
  • A 1,800-hour annual billable target with approved pro bono (up to 100 hours) and DEI work (up to 25 hours) counting toward that goal

Location: This role is based in our San Francisco office. We operate on a hybrid schedule with a 3-day in-office expectation — a setup designed to keep the team connected while giving you the flexibility to do your best work.

Note: Candidates must be admitted to practice in California. Experience with Proposition 65, consumer product compliance, and/or environmental litigation is strongly preferred; this is not a general litigation position.

About Us

We are a litigation boutique with over four decades of experience representing Fortune 500 companies, private corporations, nonprofits, government entities, and individuals throughout California and across the United States. Founded on the belief that smaller is smarter, we've built a firm free from the weight of large-firm bureaucracy — one where attorneys can think more creatively, act more nimbly, and build genuine, lasting client relationships. We pride ourselves on our inclusivity, our concrete commitment to diversity, and the loyalty of our clients, attorneys, and staff. Confidential Employer.

Job Description

  • Defend Proposition 65 lawsuits, including pre-litigation negotiations, motions practice, and trial preparation
  • Handle California Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition, and False Advertising claims on behalf of corporate clients
  • Litigate property contamination matters and citizen suits under the federal Clean Water Act
  • Research and advise clients on environmental laws and consumer product compliance regulations
  • Draft briefs, motions, pleadings, and client communications with precision and clarity
  • Manage multiple complex matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Work directly with clients, building trust-based relationships from early in your tenure
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and across practice groups as matters and interests align

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in environmental law, consumer protection litigation, or related practice areas
  • Admitted to practice in California (required)
  • Experience with Proposition 65, CLRA, UCL, Clean Water Act, or related matters strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills — strong drafting is essential
  • Solid academic credentials and sharp analytical abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and as part of a team
  • Self-starter with consistent attention to detail

Why You Will Love Working Here

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
