Location: Troy, Michigan — on-site schedule offering consistency and strong in-office collaboration with attorneys and fellow legal support professionals.

Note: This role requires 2+ years of legal support experience in litigation or insurance defense. This is a firm requirement. Experience with Michigan court e-filing, comfort taking dictation when needed, and fast, accurate typing are strongly preferred.

Job Description

  • Support attorneys throughout active civil litigation and insurance defense matters
  • File pleadings, motions, and other documents through Michigan court electronic filing systems
  • Maintain attorney calendars for court deadlines, hearings, depositions, meetings, and trial dates
  • Prepare and format correspondence, pleadings, discovery materials, and other legal documents
  • Transcribe dictation and produce accurate attorney correspondence and case documents
  • Compile, organize, and label exhibits for motions, depositions, mediations, and trials
  • Schedule depositions, meetings, client appointments, and court appearances
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files
  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, courts, and opposing counsel
  • Help attorneys stay ahead of deadlines in a busy litigation environment

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of legal support experience in litigation or insurance defense
  • Prior experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, litigation secretary, or similar legal support professional
  • Familiarity with Michigan court procedures, filings, and electronic filing preferred
  • Strong typing, document preparation, and administrative skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and deadline management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented approach
  • Comfort taking dictation when needed strongly preferred
