The posting

A growing manufacturer of advanced power solutions is seeking a Field Sales Engineer to support continued growth across government, defense, military, industrial, and commercial markets.

This is a customer-facing role that works closely with Regional Sales Managers, marketing, engineering, operations, and external representatives to identify, qualify, and support new business opportunities aligned with the company's technical capabilities and revenue goals. The Field Sales Engineer will serve as a key technical resource throughout the sales process, helping customers understand available solutions while ensuring their requirements are clearly communicated internally.

The ideal candidate is a technically credible sales professional who can uncover customer requirements, translate technical and business needs into practical solutions, and support opportunities from initial discovery through proposal, qualification, and production phases. This individual will play a key role in developing quotes, proposals, compliance matrices, system block diagrams, project schedules, and other technical materials required to support RFIs, RFQs, and related opportunities.

The role also includes customer visits, product demonstrations, technical presentations, system evaluations, troubleshooting, tradeshows, and other field-based activities. It is well suited for someone who enjoys being close to both the technology and the customer and wants to play a visible role in helping a growing organization expand its market presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact during customer interactions.
  • Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, technical meetings, tradeshows, and industry events.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product training, and application guidance.
  • Support the full sales cycle, including RFI/RFQ responses, capture strategy, product qualification, LRIP, and FRP.
  • Use strong discovery skills and open-ended questioning to understand customer technical and business needs.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to translate complex technical information into effective power solutions.
  • Develop accurate quotes, proposals, compliance matrices, block diagrams, project schedules, and technical response packages.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, system evaluations, and technical support throughout the pre-sales and post-sales lifecycle.
  • Provide field feedback to help shape future products and technologies.
  • Support inbound customer inquiries and maintain equipment used for demonstrations, tradeshows, and customer evaluations.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to improve access to technical information, proposal content, solution development, and sales workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Inside and/or outside technical sales experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics.
  • Experience supporting military, government, industrial, or commercial customers is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and CRM platforms required. Epicor and Salesforce experience are preferred.
  • Experience working with outside sales representatives.
  • Strong technical communication, presentation, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Experience using AI tools in a professional environment is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

This is a field-focused role requiring approximately 20–30% travel for customer visits, conferences, tradeshows, demonstrations, and other professional or industry events.

Candidates should be comfortable with extended driving and air travel when required. The position may also involve tradeshow setup and breakdown, as well as occasional lifting of equipment.

What They're Looking For:

The strongest candidates will combine technical credibility with strong customer instincts. You should be comfortable asking thoughtful discovery questions, explaining complex technical concepts, working across engineering and sales teams, and building trusted relationships with customers.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with customer interaction and business development and wants to grow with a manufacturer operating across defense, government, industrial, and commercial markets.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
