The opportunity

Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG) backs late-stage venture and growth equity companies that use technology to disrupt incumbents and build entirely new sectors. We partner with ambitious founders to capture the global opportunities emerging from unprecedented technological change.

Our global team invests in companies around the world that have a proven business model and a clear path to scale.

This is a hands-on role from day one. You will work side by side with the investment team and be involved in every stage of the deal process, from early evaluation through to closing and portfolio monitoring. As an Investment Analyst, you will dig into emerging themes, technologies and sectors, build financial analysis, support commercial due diligence and help shape the investment memos that go to committee.

Who you’ll work with

You will join a tight-knit, global team of ~25 investment professionals across Toronto, San Francisco, London, Mumbai, and Singapore.

You will also gain exposure to other asset classes and functional groups across Ontario Teachers’ global investment platform. Through the investment and due diligence process, you will engage directly with industry experts, advisors, and the founders and management teams of high-growth companies.

What you'll do

  • Play a critical role in the research, analysis and evaluation of direct investment opportunities
  • Build the financial models that underpin our investment decisions
  • Help shape and present investment recommendations to internal committees
  • Support internal processes including critical aspects of the valuation process, ongoing monitoring and administration of investments
  • Contribute to other OTPP initiatives defined as critical by senior leaders within TVG including initiatives designed to share the insights of TVG with the broader Investment organization
  • Build your network across a global ecosystem of co-investors, entrepreneurs, VC and growth equity-focused banks and other service providers
  • Represent Teachers’ Venture Growth at annual meetings and industry conferences
  • Partner and communicate with the global team across all offices ensuring appropriate parties are kept informed and engaged on transactions or initiatives
  • Develop a strong and intuitive grasp of the strategic objectives that TVG uses to anchor its investment decision-making
  • Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other teams to ensure continued alignment with OTPP’s mission, vision and values. This includes supporting and sharing knowledge with other areas of Investments and responding to ad hoc requests from other departments

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a graduate degree, MBA or other advanced financial designation is an asset
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience (investment banking, management consulting, direct investing, public equities, or corporate development within an operating business)
  • Genuine curiosity about disruptive technology trends and the companies driving them.
  • Experience investing in venture-backed companies considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, results and growth-oriented
  • A global mindset and comfort working across regions and time zones
  • An ability to balance priorities, work independently with minimal direction, lead projects and thrive in a high-performance team environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint are required.
  • Experience organizing and analyzing structured and unstructured data is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel as required

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
