Nurse Supervisor, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) - Overlake Medical Center & Clinics
Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced NICU nurse who is ready to take the next step into nursing leadership.
In this vital role, you will partner with the NICU Manager, neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to deliver excellence in patient care, quality outcomes, and patient safety. You will assist with the daily operational oversight of the unit to ensure departmental goals, regulatory standards, and patient care expectations are achieved.
Overlake's Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is an 18-bed unit dedicated to providing specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns. The unit consists of a 13-bed primary NICU with private patient rooms and an overflow area with semi-private rooms, supporting a family-centered care environment and advanced neonatal services.
The Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who provides supervisory and support functions for the unit under the direction and guidance of the Manager. Responsible for supervising efficient, professional, customer-focused patient care activities, including direct supervision of clinical staff and Charge Nurses. Monitors patient acuity, productivity, staffing effectiveness, and premium hour utilization. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, and regulatory readiness. Performs and directs other duties necessary for daily operations while promoting autonomous professional nursing practice. This position is expected to be primarily comprised of supervisory responsibilities with occasional clinical support as needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
- RNC-NIC certification preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical NICU experience strongly preferred - in a Level III or higher neonatal intensive care setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Charge Nurse or equivalent clinical leadership experience in a NICU strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage patient flow, coordinate resources, and support staff development.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Computer proficiency required.
