The posting

About Owner

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants.

We’re building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business.

It powers everything from the restaurant’s website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.

Product philosophy

Most small business software makes owners do the work to get what they want: sales growth and profit growth. Owner does the work for them agentically.

Our system drives demand, converts it, and helps operators run their business day to day. As it improves, the business improves with it.

Using Owner should feel like having a team of great operators, engineers, and marketers working for you.

Our vision

We’re starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it’s not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.

Once we nail the solution for restaurants – we’ll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction

Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com http://Owner.com website.

More importantly, we’ve helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.

Our team

Our team is now in the low hundreds. We’ve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We’ll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.

Where we work

Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!

Role Overview

Owner's promise to a restaurant isn't software, it's revenue. When a guest lands on a restaurant's site, we want them to find what they're craving, trust what they see, and check out without friction, whether or not the owner ever touches a setting.

As we scale, we're expanding our product engineering leadership to ship faster, raise the bar on the guest ordering experience, and build the systems that make it work across thousands of restaurants. As the Engineering Manager for OLO, you'll lead a team of full-stack engineers building the guest web ordering experience, from menu, cart and checkout to promotions, photos, and the menu quality systems that make about 10,000 merchant-written menus convert like they were designed by a pro. Next, we're taking OLO to enterprise and multi-location brands, and pushing guest conversion toward 10% through disciplined experimentation. This role is equal parts product intuition and technical execution. You'll be trusted to make hard prioritization calls, ship experiments that move revenue, and grow a team that embodies engineering excellence.

We move with urgency, bias toward simplicity, and expect our leaders to be hands-on when needed. If you're energized by ownership, measurable impact, and solving real problems for small business owners, we'd love to hear from you.

Why we’re looking for you

Owner's promise to a restaurant isn't software — it's revenue. OLO is where that promise gets converted: the guest web ordering experience (menu, cart, checkout, promotions) plus the automated systems that find and fix menu quality problems across roughly 10,000 menus written by merchants we don't control.

We treat conversion as an automated system, not a design review. We build rubrics, detection, and remediation, then prove every change with an experiment. Next, we're taking OLO upmarket to enterprise and multi-location brands and pushing conversion toward 10%.

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the team through that, keep it healthy, and hold a high bar on what we ship and what we cut.

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Our Stack

- Web / Growth: React, Next.js, TypeScript — guest web ordering, menu quality, experimentation platform

- Backend & Services: Node.js, MongoDB → PostgreSQL (migration in flight), Temporal, Datadog

- Language: TypeScript everywhere

The Impact You'll Have

- Build the experimentation engine that pushes guest conversion toward 10%, across checkout, fulfillment, merchandising, and promotions

- Take OLO to enterprise and multi-location brands, with the reliability and menu complexity they need

- Get >90% of menus, including POS-integrated ones, to our menu quality bar, and build the system that keeps live menus optimized as they change

- Scale photo coverage using guest sourcing, auto-replating, licensed catalogs, and generated combo images, each tied to measured GPV lift

- Rebuild promotions from the ground up: redemption UX, badges, auto-apply, and merchandising

- Cut fulfillment selection errors and finish the Postgres migration

What we’re looking for

- 3+ years of engineering management, leading teams of 6–10+ engineers on customer-facing product

- Track record of running growth or conversion programs: metrics, A/B testing at scale, funnel analysis

- Experience scaling a product for enterprise or multi-location customers

- Strong prioritization: you can take a roadmap bigger than your team and make hard, clear calls

- Technical credibility in full-stack web (React/TypeScript, Node.js) and data-heavy systems

- Cares about team health and has led people through heavy or repetitive workloads

- Excellent cross-functional partner to PM, design, and adjacent teams

Compensation and benefits

- The estimated base salary range for this role is $250K-$270K, depending on experience and location. The offer also includes a a generous pre-IPO equity package.

- Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, remote-first workplace, unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
