Job Description

Oxford Nanopore Technologies: Our goal is to bring the widest benefits to society through enabling the analysis of anything, by anyone, anywhere.

The company has developed a new generation of nanopore-based sensing technology for faster, information rich, accessible and affordable molecular analysis.

The first application is DNA/RNA sequencing, and the technology is in development for the analysis of other types of molecules including proteins.

The technology is used to understand and characterise the biology of humans and diseases such as cancer, plants, animals, bacteria, viruses, and whole environments.

With a thriving culture of ambition and strong innovation goals, Oxford Nanopore is a UK headquartered company with global operations and customers in more than 125 countries.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our engineering team as a Production Engineer to contribute to our development of our semiconductor wafer processes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about new technology.

The Details...

Working in the Production Engineering wafer fab team in Oxford, you will provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for semiconductor wafer production. You will help keep our wafer-fab processes and equipment running safely, consistently and efficiently, through process monitoring, data analysis, troubleshooting, documentation, qualification and continuous improvement.

Other duties include:

  • Support day-to-day wafer-fab production, resolving process and equipment issues and escalating risks promptly
  • Monitor process, equipment and yield data to spot trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Troubleshoot problems using structured root-cause and corrective action methods
  • Support the introduction of new products, materials, equipment and tooling into manufacturing
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, vendor service visits and qualification and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Create and maintain controlled manufacturing documentation, including process flows, work instructions and bills of materials
  • Support FMEA, risk assessment and verification activities
  • Contribute to Lean and Six Sigma initiatives that improve yield, efficiency and cost
  • Work with R&D, Design Engineering, Quality, Production and suppliers on technical changes and production readiness
  • Follow safe systems of work and EH&S requirements for cleanroom and equipment operation

What We're Looking For...

We’ll expect you to have a degree, HND or apprenticeship in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing or a similar subject, or equivalent relevant industrial experience.

You’ll have a background in production or manufacturing engineering within a regulated or controlled environment, and experience troubleshooting production processes and equipment, using data to investigate yield or quality issues.

You’ll also have experience creating technical documentation and engineering change records, and supporting process qualification, validation or equipment commissioning.

Alongside your technical background, you’ll be a strong communicator with excellent writing skills, able to produce work instructions, specifications and technical reports, and proficient in Microsoft Office including Project and Visio.

Experience in semiconductor, MEMS or cleanroom manufacturing, Lean or Six Sigma training, or familiarity with Minitab or SolidWorks would be advantageous.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively with others from multi-disciplinary teams, likes to take a hands-on approach and is a proactive problem solver. In addition, you'll be encouraged to be self-sufficient and involved from day one with a very supportive and capable team behind you. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced working environment on exciting projects with the prospect to develop your skills and experience further.

We offer outstanding benefits to include an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and an excellent starting salary.

If you are looking to utilise your skills to really make a difference to humankind, then consider joining our team and apply today!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
