Job Description

We're looking for a qualified Maintenance Electrician to join our Pact Recycling team based in East Tamaki. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of our electrical and automation systems across our East Tamaki and Penrose sites.

This hands-on role combines electrical maintenance, fault finding, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide electrical maintenance and technical support across the East Tamaki and Penrose manufacturing sites, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, automation, and control systems to minimise production downtime.
  • Plan, execute, and document preventive and corrective maintenance activities for electrical equipment, machinery, and plant systems.
  • Install, program, commission, and maintain PLCs, VSDs, and automated production equipment to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support automation and process improvement projects in collaboration with Production teams and the wider Pact Group network.
  • Monitor energy consumption, identify efficiency opportunities, and implement initiatives that reduce operational costs and improve sustainability.
  • Manage electrical spare parts, consumables, purchasing activities, and coordinate external contractors to ensure maintenance requirements are met.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards by promoting safe work practices, participating in audits, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Your skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Level 6 (or equivalent).
  • Current New Zealand Electrical Registration and Practising Licence (A Grade).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Maintenance Electrician in FMCG, manufacturing, industrial processing, or a similar environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical and automation systems.
  • Project management skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience within the plastics, recycling, or processing industry will be highly regarded.

Additional Information

  • Full-time, permanent waged position working 40 hours per week.
  • Based in East Tamaki, Auckland, supporting both East Tamaki and Penrose operations.
  • Occasional overtime may be required for evening or weekend breakdown support.
  • Work with advanced manufacturing equipment, automation systems, PLCs, and VSDs.
  • Opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives within a leading recycling business.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
