Amentum is seeking a WPN Communications & Network Systems Analyst to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) located at Vandenberg SFB in Lompoc, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration & Support: Assist with the administration, maintenance, and routine configuration of Range Interface Units (RIUs) software, hardware configurations and associated communication subsystems under the direction of the Lead Engineer.
- System Evaluation & Recommendations: Monitor and evaluate system performance; gather metrics and analyze operational data to prepare recommendations for system configuration enhancements, hardware refreshes, or software upgrades for engineering review and final approval.
- Circuit Configuration & Testing: Configure, test, and perform diagnostics on serial data circuits and interfaces, including T1, DS1, DS3, RS-232, RS-530, and RS-422 signal paths.
- Timing & Synchronization: Operate, verify, and assist in maintaining GPS receivers, Time Code Generators, and NTP servers to ensure accurate synchronization across all mission networks.
- Data Transport Support: Support Network Administrators and Engineers with the monitoring, troubleshooting, and verification of IPv4/IPv6 protocols, mission data routing, and telemetry transport.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance Execution: Execute and support engineering-approved system security measures designed to safeguard data, hardware, and software assets; assist in conducting continuous monitoring activities required to sustain the system Authorization to Operate (ATO).
- Planning & Operational Reporting: Assist engineering leadership in tracking, documenting, estimating, and reporting on network administration activities and system changes.
- Risk Identification: Actively participate in Risk Management Boards (RMB), identifying and reporting emerging network risks, anomalies, and potential failure points for engineering evaluation.
- Safety & Standards Compliance: Adhere to established policies and procedures pertaining to job site safety, security, and timekeeping.
- General Duties: Perform other specialized operational and analytical tasks as assigned by the engineering lead.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in technology-related STEM discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience / military technical training.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in communication systems analysis, network operations, or technical systems support.
- Technical Breadth: Experience in day-to-day and launch operations, configuration management, and maintenance of voice/data/analog and digital video systems.
- Certifications: Must have current DOD 8140 certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, or Security+), or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Diagnostic & Test Equipment: Practical experience utilizing diagnostic and test instrumentation, such as Bit Error Rate Testers (e.g., FIREBERD), Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), Oscilloscopes, Signal Analyzers, and optical loss/power meters.
- Hardware Familiarity: Hands-on operational familiarity with network and communications hardware (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Cornet, NetAcquire, RT Logic, IPTec).
- Incident Response: Practical experience assisting with cybersecurity incident detection/triage and diagnosing technical network anomalies.
- Operational Flexibility: The willingness and flexibility to work non-duty hours to support specific project and mission requirements.
- Installation Experience (Preferred): Experience with communications systems administration and maintenance on Vandenberg Space Force Base or other comparable DoD/military test range environments is a plus.
- Technical Domain Knowledge: Experience with serial data communications, fiber optics, multiplexing, data switching, digital voice architectures, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), IPv4 / IPv6 hardware and circuit-over-packet / encrypted data transport methodologies.
- Software Tools: Working proficiency with standard productivity and collaboration suites (e.g., Microsoft Office, MS Project, SharePoint).
Physical & Operational Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift, position, and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness and ability to support occasional project-related travel.
- Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Driver’s License: Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual starting salary for this position is between $90,000 - $95,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
