About the Opportunity
Are you ready to shape the future of some of the UK’s most complex and nationally significant projects?
As demand for our environmental expertise continues to grow owing to positions on a number of significant multi-year frameworks, we're looking for a Principal Environmental Consultant to join our thriving Environmental Management and Permitting team. From supporting nuclear decommissioning and next-generation nuclear technologies to advising the Ministry of Defence and major industrial clients, you'll play a key role in helping projects navigate environmental challenges, regulatory requirements, and permitting obligations with confidence.
Reporting to the Environmental Management and Permitting Team Leader, you will be a senior member of a team of environmental professionals working to ensure that all environmental aspects and regulatory permitting requirements of the projects are managed effectively.
The Role
You will play a leading role in delivering complex environmental management, permitting and regulatory compliance projects across the nuclear, defence and wider infrastructure sectors. Drawing on your technical expertise and industry experience, you will lead multidisciplinary teams in developing environment cases, environmental permit applications, regulatory submissions, environmental assessments and compliance programmes that support the successful delivery of nationally significant projects.
You will work closely with clients, regulators and project stakeholders, providing trusted technical advice and helping organisations navigate complex environmental challenges and evolving regulatory requirements. The role offers the opportunity to shape projects spanning nuclear decommissioning, next-generation nuclear technologies, Ministry of Defence programmes and major infrastructure developments, ensuring environmental risks are effectively managed and compliance obligations are met.
Beyond project delivery, you will contribute to the continued growth of the business by strengthening client relationships, identifying new opportunities, supporting bids and proposals, and helping to develop our service offering. You will also play a key role in mentoring and developing colleagues, sharing technical knowledge, building team capability and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
As a senior member of the Environmental Management and Permitting team, you will help drive continuous improvement across our projects and services, contributing to the development of technical standards, best practice approaches and innovative solutions that maintain our reputation for delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services.
