We have an exciting opportunity for a SQL Server Database Administrator / Developer to join the team!

The SQL Server Database Administrator / Developer will:

  • Own the health, performance, and availability of the organization's SQL Server environment and the Windows servers that host it
  • Perform proactive server and database maintenance, including patching, backups, restore testing, integrity checks, index maintenance, statistics updates, and transaction log management
  • Monitor server and database performance, and identify and resolve issues before they affect users
  • Tune database performance by analyzing execution plans, designing and maintaining indexes, and optimizing queries and stored procedures
  • Design, write, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions that support applications and reporting
  • Build, schedule, and maintain data synchronization jobs between corporate databases and local systems using SQL Agent, SSIS, or similar tools, with monitoring and failure alerting
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain SSRS reports, and support the reporting needs of business users
  • Work with application developers to design efficient database schemas and data access patterns for .NET applications
  • Manage database security, including logins, roles, and permissions, in line with organizational and contract requirements
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures, and document the database environment and operational runbooks

Requisition Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and developing in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proven experience with routine database maintenance: backup and recovery strategies, recovery models, transaction log management, integrity checks, and index and statistics maintenance
  • Strong T-SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning with execution plans
  • Solid understanding of indexing strategy, including clustered and no clustered indexes, covering indexes, and fragmentation
  • Experience building and supporting data integration and sync jobs with SQL Agent and/or SSIS
  • Experience developing and maintaining SSRS reports
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server administration as it relates to hosting SQL Server
  • Basic understanding of .NET application development and how applications interact with the database, such as connection handling, Entity Framework or ADO.NET, and parameterized queries
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a disciplined, proactive approach to maintenance and documentation

Requisition Preferences

  • Experience with PowerShell or dbatools for automating database administration tasks
  • Familiarity with Power BI
  • Experience using AI tools to support query writing, troubleshooting, or documentation
  • Experience in aerospace, government contracting, or NASA/DoD environments

Compensation:

  • Salary starts at $83,700. Final pay will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
