The posting

The Legal Counsel for Molecular Devices will provide practical, business-oriented legal support to Molecular Devices’ global operations, with a primary focus on commercial contracting, distributor and channel-partner matters, corporate governance, compliance and legal operations.

This role will partner with Legal, Commercial and other functional teams across regions to review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements; support distributor contracting and due diligence; assist with corporate governance requirements; and help improve the systems, processes and tools used by the Legal function.

The successful candidate will bring strong commercial-contracting skills, sound legal judgment, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, global business environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including distributor and reseller agreements, amendments and other commercial contracts, and provide practical legal guidance to internal business stakeholders.
  • Support Molecular Devices’ global distributor and reseller network, including renewals, amendments, contract management and third-party due diligence activities.
  • Become knowledgeable regarding applicable third-party and channel-partner diligence requirements and help ensure distributor/reseller arrangements are appropriately documented and reviewed.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and members of the global Legal team to identify contractual and commercial risks and develop practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters for Molecular Devices legal entities in multiple jurisdictions, including maintaining appropriate corporate records and supporting recurring governance requirements.
  • Support corporate, platform and cross-functional legal projects as business needs evolve.
  • Assist with the development, administration and continuous improvement of contract-management processes and legal technology, including Conga, workflow tools and other Legal systems.
  • Help develop and deliver legal and compliance training using established company policies, materials and guidance.
  • Provide support on compliance and ethics matters, including appropriate fact gathering and coordination with Legal and Compliance colleagues.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Sales, Finance and other functions in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to make legal support more efficient, consistent and scalable.

Essential requirements of the job

  • LL.B., LL.M. or equivalent law degree.
  • Approximately 4–8 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience, preferably including in-house and/or law-firm experience supporting commercial transactions.
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify legal and commercial risk and provide clear, practical and business-oriented advice.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across different functions, cultures and time zones.
  • Sound judgment, responsiveness and a collaborative approach to supporting business stakeholders.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

  • Experience supporting a multinational life sciences, biotechnology, medical-device or other regulated business.
  • Experience with distributor, reseller or other channel-partner agreements and third-party diligence.
  • Experience supporting corporate governance matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management, workflow automation or legal-operations technology, including tools such as Conga.
  • Experience supporting compliance training or internal ethics/compliance matters.
  • Experience operating within a global or matrixed legal organization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
