Surgical Ophthalmology experience is highly preferred, particularly experience in an ambulatory surgical or procedural setting. However, experienced RNs with a strong background in medical-surgical, ASC, critical care, or other comparable clinical environments are encouraged to apply. The RN will perform pre-operative assessments, establish IV access, monitor patients throughout procedures, administer medications as ordered, support post-procedure recovery, and ensure patients are safely prepared for discharge. This position also works closely with physicians and the broader clinical team to maintain a safe, efficient, patient-centered environment. What You'll Do
Complete daily opening and closing responsibilities according to established protocols. Perform comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, including medical history, medication review, vital signs, and clinical documentation. Obtain IV access, perform lab draws, and complete point-of-care testing as needed. Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, including HR, BP, O2 saturation, EKG, pain status, and Aldrete scores. Administer oral and IV medications, including pain medication and sedation, as ordered. Communicate relevant patient information to physicians and the clinical team throughout the patient's care. Assist with procedure room preparation and maintain appropriate sterile technique. Support physicians and the clinical team during procedures and provide post-procedure care. Monitor patients during recovery, including post-sedation assessments, vital signs, and discharge readiness. Provide patient education and ensure safe discharge following procedures. Maintain accurate and timely paper and electronic medical records. Maintain accurate narcotic and prescription medication logs and assist with medication inventory. Communicate with dialysis facilities regarding post-procedure care as directed. Follow all OSHA, federal, state, Joint Commission, infection control, and radiation safety requirements. Perform additional clinical and operational responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with state requirements. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required. At least 2 years of clinical RN experience. Surgical Ophthalmology experience highly preferred. Experience in an ambulatory surgery center, medical-surgical, critical care, procedural, or comparable nursing environment strongly considered. Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and patient-care skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality of care.
Why Join Us? This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN who enjoys procedural and outpatient care and wants the flexibility of a per diem schedule. You'll work alongside an experienced clinical team and play an important role in delivering safe, efficient, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.
