About the Company

Papaya is a leading skill-based mobile gaming company, bringing together fun, competition, and real rewards for millions of players worldwide.

Driven by our vision to create one of the world’s most exciting player communities, we develop games powered by a large-scale B2C platform that supports tens of millions of daily tournaments and connects players around the world through social competitions.

Located in the heart of Tel Aviv, we offer a fast-moving environment, culture of innovation, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a true impact.

We’re looking for a passionate Privacy & Compliance Counsel to join our growing Legal department. As part of the Compliance team, you will help ensure that Papaya's products, marketing practices, and processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The role covers four core areas: Data protection and privacy, gaming, marketing (including advertising, consumer protection, and app store and platform guidelines), and AI.

Responsibilities

You will help ensure that Papaya’s products and processes comply with applicable laws and regulations, monitor legal developments, and advise the business on how to adapt.

·On data protection and privacy, you will conduct DPIAs, draft and update privacy policies and notices, and maintain our ROPAs and data mapping. You will handle data subject requests within required timelines and embed privacy by design and by default into new features, products, and processes. You will also review vendors’ data protection safeguards and DPAs, audit our websites and applications for cookie and tracking-technology compliance, and help establish appropriate legal bases for processing personal data.

·On gaming, you will support compliance with game-related regulations across our markets, including in-game purchases and virtual currencies, protection of minors, and player-facing terms. You will identify legal and compliance aspects across product development and operations, help develop mitigation strategies, and implement compliance policies and procedures.

·On marketing, you will review campaigns, creatives, user acquisition and influencer activities, in-game offers, and promotional materials for compliance with advertising and consumer protection laws, regulatory and industry standards. You will also help ensure our games, marketing, and monetization practices comply with app store and platform policies, and track changes to those policies.

·On AI, you will help ensure that Papaya’s development and use of AI tools and systems, internally and in our products and marketing, comply with applicable laws. This includes assessing AI use cases and risks, reviewing AI vendors and terms of use, addressing the IP, transparency, and data protection aspects of AI, and helping develop internal AI governance policies and guidelines.

Across all these areas, you will be working closely with the product, marketing, and security teams to integrate compliance into product development and operations.

Requirements

● LL.B from an accredited university or college.

● Licensed to practice law in Israel.

● At least 5 years of compliance experience as in-house counsel or in a high-tech regulatory practice advising international clients at a major law firm.

● Strong working knowledge of data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR and CCPA/CPRA).

● Experience with advertising, marketing, and consumer protection regulations, and familiarity with app store and platform guidelines.

● Familiarity with AI regulation (e.g., the EU AI Act) and AI governance.

● Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

● Previous experience in the gaming industry and with gaming regulations – a big advantage

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
