The posting

We are looking for a talented and motivated intern to join our team developing physical layer (PHY) software for our 4G and 5G products. The position is a 12-month internship at our office in the centre of Bristol, where you will be working alongside a team of approximately 50 people, part of a larger (500+) international R&D team motivated by building the future of telecoms.

If you are looking for a chance to work on cutting-edge, disruptive technology, and gain invaluable experience in a well-paid internship, Parallel Wireless is for you.

What you'll do:

  • Develop real-time PHY software features on the latest multi-core Intel / AMD / ARM CPUs.
  • Integrate, test and validate features on servers within lab and AWS cloud end-to-end environments.
  • Build test scripts and debug tools that form part of our software CI/CD and release packages.
  • Use AI coding agents day to day to develop and debug PHY software, scripts and tools.
  • Use various lab equipment for end-to-end testing: UE simulators, mobile phones (Android), and other RF equipment.

What you'll gain:

  • Hands-on experience of developing real-time high-performance C/C++ software in a Linux environment, using Docker containers and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of modern CPU instruction sets and SIMD programming.
  • Experience of a modern software development environment (Git, JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience of agentic development including building the skills and tools to automate engineering workflows.
  • A better understanding of wireless telecommunications and digital signal processing concepts.
  • Experience of working in multi-national Agile teams, familiarity with modern Scrum and SAFe ways of thinking and working.

What you must have:

  • Strong C and/or C++ programming skills (assessed at technical interview).
  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Interest in AI-assisted software development.
  • Willingness to learn about wireless communications. Prior experience is an advantage but not a requirement.

During your internship you'll get:

  • 25 days of annual leave a year (pro-rata) and an extra day off in the month of your birthday
  • Monthly team lunches, a kitchen stocked daily with fresh healthy fruits & snacks, and activities with the team (lunchtime table tennis, chess, running, etc.)
  • Private medical care + medical/dental cash plan
  • Personal travel insurance
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Opt in 5% employer contribution pension
  • Salary between £28-30k per annum
  • Flexible working hours

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
