About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Transportation Engineer IV to join our DOT & Tribal Design team. In this role, you will support the delivery of roadway design and stormwater infrastructure projects for a variety of public-sector and Tribal clients throughout Washington. The position offers a blend of technical project delivery, client engagement, project management, staff mentorship and team development.

This position may be based in our Puyallup, Silverdale, or Seattle offices and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office time dedicated to team collaboration, client engagement, and project integration.

Your Role on the Team:

  • Lead and/or support the planning, design and delivery of complex transportation projects, with an emphasis on local roadway and highway design, grading, intersection, interchange, corridor, pedestrian and bicycle improvements.
  • Experience designing stormwater management and drainage systems for transportation projects—including storm sewer networks, culverts, detention or retention facilities, water-quality controls, and erosion and sediment control measures—is a plus but not required.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the development of complete Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages, technical reports and design documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to address design challenges and incorporate feedback.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) review of engineering deliverables.
  • Support project managers with project scope, schedule, budget, proposals, and client communications.
  • Mentor and support the technical and professional development of engineering staff.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of related transportation engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments and coordinate work across disciplines.
  • Experience working on projects for one of the following client types: Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Tribal governments Local Agencies, including cities and counties
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and leading engineering staff.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads.
  • Experience with stormwater modeling software preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with applicable local and state transportation design manuals and standards.

Salary Range

$110,000—$120,000 USD

Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. We value transparency and look forward to discussing our compensation structure.
