What you will be doing

The Business Analyst strengthens shared understanding between Product, stakeholders, and engineering teams. Product and stakeholders define the business objectives, intent, and outcomes- The Business Analyst works with the development team to ensure those objectives are understood, explored, and translated into clear, feasible, and testable requirements.

The role enables teams to understand what is being asked so they can design and implement appropriate solutions. The Business Analyst operates within the development function, collaborating closely with developers, QA, architects, and the Team Leader throughout discovery, refinement, and delivery.

In addition to traditional analysis responsibilities, the Business Analyst helps teams explore opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of product solutions or internal workflows.

The role focuses on enabling clarity, improving shared understanding, and reducing ambiguity, not on defining product strategy or controlling delivery.

Key accountabilities

Shared Understanding and Requirement Exploration

  • Works with Product and stakeholders to understand objectives, outcomes, constraints, and context.
  • Enables the development team to understand what is being asked by exploring requirements collaboratively.
  • Facilitates workshops, discussions, and discovery sessions to help teams reason about the problem space.
  • Surfaces assumptions, contradictions, edge cases, and dependencies that may affect implementation.
  • Supports the team in building a shared understanding of the problem and the solution.

Requirement Analysis and Modelling

  • Analyses requirements to identify missing details, risks, and potential impacts.
  • Models functional flows, states, business processes, and interactions.
  • Helps articulate acceptance criteria and behavioural expectations together with developers and QA.
  • Documents requirements, flows, and context as part of ongoing collaboration with the team.
  • Maintains traceability between objectives, requirements, stories, and validation criteria.

Development Readiness and Refinement Support

  • Supports refinement activities by helping the team explore scope, edge cases, and constraints.
  • Helps ensure user stories are clear, testable, and understood before entering development.
  • Maintains visibility of requirement clarity and readiness.
  • Contributes to improving backlog structure and context without owning prioritisation.
  • Supports teams in understanding requirement changes and their potential impact.

Collaboration with Engineering Teams

  • Collaborates daily with developers, QA, architects, and Team Leaders.
  • Supports technical discussions to identify constraints, dependencies, and feasibility considerations early.
  • Provides domain and requirement context when questions arise during development.
  • Facilitates alignment between Product, Architecture, QA, and Development.

AI-Enabled Analysis and Opportunity Exploration

  • Helps teams explore opportunities where Artificial Intelligence can enhance product capabilities or internal processes.
  • Supports problem framing in ways that may allow AI-assisted solutions such as automation, classification, prediction, or recommendation.
  • Works with architects and developers to evaluate AI-enabled approaches within system constraints.
  • Uses AI tools to support analysis, documentation, and knowledge exploration.
  • Promotes awareness of AI capabilities and limitations within the team.

Continuous Improvement of Analysis Practices

  • Contributes to improving requirement clarity and backlog hygiene.
  • Supports the team in reducing ambiguity and preventing rework.
  • Encourages collaborative analysis practices that strengthen team autonomy.
  • Helps evolve analysis workflows to incorporate modern tools, including AI-assisted analysis where appropriate.

What the Role Does NOT Own

The Business Analyst role does not:

  • Define product objectives, priorities, or roadmaps.
  • Decide what features should be built.
  • Approve architecture or technical solutions.
  • Manage delivery timelines or team capacity.
  • Act as a gatekeeper preventing work from entering development.

Instead, the role supports shared understanding so teams can make informed decisions and deliver effectively.

The Business Analyst plays a key role in enabling shared understanding between Product, stakeholders, and engineering teams. By bridging business intent with technical execution, the role ensures that objectives are clearly understood, explored, and translated into actionable, testable requirements.

Working closely within the development function, the Business Analyst supports teams throughout discovery, refinement, and delivery, helping reduce ambiguity and improve clarity across all stages. The role focuses on facilitating alignment and enabling teams to make informed decisions, rather than defining product strategy or owning delivery.

Additionally, the Business Analyst contributes to identifying opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), supporting the adoption of practical and value-driven solutions within both product features and internal workflows.

Success in this Role Means

  • Development teams clearly understand what is being asked and why it matters.
  • Requirements are explored collaboratively and translated into clear, testable stories.
  • Teams encounter fewer blockers caused by missing context or unclear requirements.
  • Alignment loops between Product, Architecture, and Development are reduced.
  • Teams maintain autonomy thanks to strong shared understanding.
  • Opportunities to leverage AI are explored responsibly and where they provide value.

Knowledge and skills you need to have

  • Strong experience translating complex business needs into clear, testable requirements and user stories.
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem framing, with the ability to structure ambiguity and guide teams toward effective solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, driving alignment across Product, Engineering, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solid experience working within Agile environments, actively contributing to refinement, planning, and delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams, understanding technical constraints and enabling better solution design.
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to connect business context with technical execution.
  • Experience in process modelling and documentation, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams.
  • Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and reducing ambiguity in fast-paced environments.
  • English proficiency: Upper intermediate.

Bonus points for the following

  • Experience with architectural reviews or technical feasibility assessments
  • Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, and experience applying AI-assisted tools in analysis or workflows.
  • Exposure to data analysis or data-driven decision making.
  • Experience working in complex, distributed systems or product-based companies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
