The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a 6G Security Program Manager based in the United States.

As a 6G Security Program Manager, you will lead complex research and development initiatives focused on securing next-generation wireless communications and advancing resilient 5G and 6G capabilities for national defense. You will oversee the full program lifecycle, from strategic planning and technical development to testing, evaluation, and operational deployment. Working closely with military stakeholders, government agencies, technical experts, and international partners, you will help shape emerging security standards and strengthen telecommunications infrastructure against evolving threats. This role combines advanced wireless security expertise with strategic program leadership in a mission-driven, highly sensitive environment. You will drive cross-functional collaboration, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure alignment with defense priorities and regulatory requirements. Your work will contribute to developing secure, reliable, and resilient communications capabilities that support critical national security missions.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the planning, initiation, execution, and lifecycle management of complex research and development programs focused on advanced wireless communications and 5G/6G security.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with Department of War (DoW) strategic objectives, customer requirements, technical standards, contractual commitments, budgets, and delivery schedules.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of 6G security architectures, zero-trust frameworks, secure wireless protocols, distributed network defenses, and threat mitigation strategies to guide technical development.
  • Manage research and engineering efforts to improve the security, reliability, and performance of next-generation wireless communication systems in challenging operational environments.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of emerging wireless technologies and advanced cryptographic standards, including their integration into existing defense networks and legacy infrastructure.
  • Coordinate security initiatives covering service security studies, security collaboration, tool development, military standards, 5G/6G security training, monitoring and mitigation, and commercial and private network security.
  • Support the development and integration of secure applications, radio access network (RAN) sharing and roaming capabilities, emission control (EMCON) measures, and coalition partner security initiatives involving NATO and Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM).
  • Oversee the development of 6G security testing, evaluation, and training environments, including exercises, assessment teams, technical kits, and workforce development programs.
  • Coordinate with spectrum management authorities to support reliable, secure access to radio frequencies and ensure compatibility with operational requirements.
  • Manage relationships with military stakeholders, government agencies, technical directors, research and engineering offices, and international partners to align strategic priorities and facilitate technical collaboration.
  • Advise government leadership on technical concepts, research initiatives, and emerging capabilities to support strategic engagement and international coordination.
  • Facilitate information exchange with the U.S. intelligence community and partner nations on telecommunications security, coordinating intelligence and protection support when required.
  • Lead information-sharing activities, technical exchanges, and joint program portfolios while coordinating with program directors and subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain detailed program plans, technical milestones, risk registers, budgets, staffing forecasts, and cost-tracking mechanisms.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly status reports, contractual deliverables, invoices, and financial updates, ensuring transparency and accountability across program activities.
  • Establish and implement risk management and mitigation strategies, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure compliance with applicable defense requirements and security protocols.
  • Drive the transition of research outcomes and emerging technologies into operational capabilities, ensuring solutions are ready to support real-world mission requirements.
  • Organize workforce development initiatives to strengthen expertise in public and private cellular architecture security and integrate these capabilities into existing military network monitoring and defense operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as engineering, computer science, telecommunications, cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility is required to apply. The selected candidate must be able to obtain the required Top Secret clearance before the start date.
  • Extensive program or project management experience involving complex technical initiatives, preferably within the Department of War, defense research and engineering organizations, or the U.S. intelligence community.
  • Strong technical expertise in wireless communications, particularly 5G/6G technologies, next-generation network architectures, telecommunications security, and emerging wireless standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of 6G security architectures, zero-trust network integration, secure protocols, distributed network defense, threat detection, and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience overseeing research, development, testing, evaluation, and operational deployment of advanced communications or cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Familiarity with military and government processes, defense technology priorities, security requirements, and operational needs related to communications monitoring and protection.
  • Ability to assess new wireless technologies, evaluate cryptographic approaches, and determine how emerging security capabilities can be integrated into existing networks and legacy systems.
  • Experience managing program scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, contractual deliverables, financial reporting, and project risks across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, senior government leaders, military organizations, and international partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts, prepare executive-level reports, and advise leadership on program priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver results in dynamic, sensitive, and highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to coordinate international technical exchanges and support collaboration with foreign partners, coalition organizations, and government stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with spectrum management, secure network monitoring, military communications infrastructure, and telecommunications threat assessment is highly desirable.
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or an equivalent project or program management certification.
  • Preferred: Experience in wireless communications, defense engineering, military testing and operations, or Department of War research and engineering programs.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting workforce development, technical training, military security exercises, and the transition of research capabilities into operational use.
  • Ability to work effectively in classified environments while maintaining discretion, technical rigor, compliance, and a strong commitment to mission success.
  • Annual base salary: $157,500–$283,500, depending on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) plan.
  • Paid time off: Paid leave and company holidays to support work-life balance.
  • Life insurance: Coverage options to support employees and their families.
  • Flexible work arrangements: Remote work opportunity within the United States, with flexible work schedules subject to program and operational requirements.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to expand technical and leadership expertise in next-generation wireless security, defense technology, and advanced research programs.
  • Mission-driven work: The opportunity to contribute to national security by advancing secure communications and resilient defense infrastructure.
  • Collaborative environment: Work alongside multidisciplinary experts and government stakeholders on complex, high-impact technology initiatives.
  • Career growth: Opportunities to take on challenging responsibilities and contribute to innovative solutions across defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity domains.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
