As a Deployment Engineer, you will drive the design, planning, and hands-on execution of new facility launches, trials of new technologies, and automation retrofits across our rapidly expanding infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Project Management Fulfillment Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of critical capital initiatives, bridging facility design, vendor execution, and operational strategy. This is your opportunity to build physical infrastructure from the ground up and shape how automated systems scale alongside our unstoppable ecommerce growth!

What is a day in the life of a Deployment Engineer?

  • Lead new site design projects from initial concept through execution, ensuring seamlessly integrated facility layouts and automated systems.
  • Develop and maintain precise AutoCAD facility drawings, layouts, and design documentation for new builds, expansions, and retrofits.
  • Manage capital planning processes, including pulling together vendor cost estimates, budget development, ROI analyses, and project prioritization.
  • Direct end-to-end project management for automation and facility projects (e.g., conveying, material handling, and package sorting systems), ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders across 20–30 internal/external groups, persuading teams to meet aggressive milestones and budget targets.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and process redesigns to identify and implement continuous operational efficiency improvements.
  • Travel up to 25% (with potential peak travel during major site buildouts) to manage on-site commissioning and construction across national fulfillment hubs.

What will I need to thrive in this role?

  • Education & Experience: B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or related field) with 3+ years of project management experience on large-scale capital or facilities projects.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD for facility layouts and design documentation is required.
  • Technical Mastery: Strong background in warehouse, logistics, or industrial design, including familiarity with automation systems (conveyors, sorters, material handling equipment).
  • Data & AI Analytics: Highly fluent in Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis, building analytical models, and leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude) to streamline operations.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners without direct authority to drive project accountability.
  • Flexibility & Mobility: Comfortable with ambiguity, an outcomes-driven mindset, and willingness to travel ~25% as site deployment schedules require.

What does high performance look like?

  • Project Completion & Execution: Delivers capital facilities and retrofits on time and within budget through meticulous risk management, clear timeline tracking, and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Project Completion & Execution: Produces accurate, high-quality AutoCAD layouts, cost estimates, and technical specifications that pass executive and leadership reviews with minimal friction.
  • Team Impact & 'Team of Doers': Demonstrates extreme autonomy by solving appropriate fires independently before escalating to leadership.
  • Team Impact & 'Team of Doers': Effectively builds rapport across distinct teams (facilities, maintenance, finance, vendors) to maintain alignment and high energy across complex project lifecycles.

What is my potential for career growth?

  • Ownership of high-visibility, multi-million dollar capital expansion projects across key global logistical hubs.
  • Clear pathway toward senior engineering and project leadership roles as Pattern scales its physical infrastructure footprint.
  • High exposure to executive leadership through direct presentation of capital investment plans, financial analyses, and site designs.
  • Cross-functional cross-skilling by collaborating closely with specialized maintenance managers, finance executives, and engineering leaders.

What does success look like in the first 30, 60, 90 days?

  • First 30 Days: Onboard onto Pattern's engineering tools and operational workflows; build relationships with key maintenance and facilities partners; gain deep familiarity with active site plans and upcoming expansion schedules (e.g., major upcoming facility launches).
  • First 60 Days: Take co-ownership of an active site project or technology retrofit; independently manage AutoCAD layout updates; interface directly with equipment vendors on cost estimations and delivery timelines.
  • First 90 Days: Fully own specific project deliverables and site launch milestones; deliver accurate ROI and cost analyses independently; manage on-site deployment activities with minimal leadership supervision.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
