The posting

We are seeking a strong Cards and Payments Business Analyst to join our team and drive the delivery of high-quality payment solutions across the cards and payments landscape. This role requires deep domain knowledge, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate complex business needs into clear requirements that support product, operational, regulatory, and technology outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, technology teams, vendors, and operations teams to support initiatives across card issuing, acquiring, transaction processing, settlement, disputes, and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end business analysis activities for cards and payments initiatives, including requirements gathering, process mapping, impact analysis, and solution design support.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across card issuing, merchant acquiring, authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, and dispute processes.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation that are clear, testable, and aligned to business objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions with product, operations, technology, compliance, risk, and third-party vendors to achieve alignment and resolve ambiguities.
  • Analyse current-state processes, identify gaps and pain points, and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, control, customer experience, and payment performance.
  • Support delivery teams through backlog refinement, sprint planning, solution clarification, testing, defect triage, and go-live readiness activities.
  • Partner with testing teams and business users to define test scenarios, validate outcomes, and support SIT and UAT execution.
  • Ensure solutions meet regulatory, scheme, and control requirements, including relevant card network rules, PCI DSS expectations, and internal governance standards.
  • Use transaction and operational data to support root-cause analysis, reconciliation, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare clear documentation and status updates for stakeholders, including business requirements, process flows, impact assessments, decision logs, and implementation support materials.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in cards, payments, banking, or financial services environments.
  • Strong knowledge of card and payment transaction lifecycles, including debit, credit, and prepaid products.
  • Good understanding of payment messaging and processing concepts such as ISO 8583, authorization flows, tokenization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with card schemes, payment gateways, processors, switches, or related platforms.
  • Strong skills in business requirements elicitation, process modelling, user story development, and documentation.
  • Experience working in Agile and Scrum delivery environments, including backlog management and sprint ceremonies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders and translate between operational and technical perspectives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with close attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting testing, data validation, issue investigation, and implementation activities.
  • Confidence working across multiple stakeholders and managing priorities in a fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in card issuing, acquiring, digital payments, e-commerce payments, or payment transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, fraud controls, dispute and chargeback processes, and card scheme mandates.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, and system integration concepts for data analysis and solution validation.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or equivalent analysis and delivery tools.
  • Relevant business analysis or payments-related certifications are advantageous.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
