Job Description

Basic Purpose and Objectives The Specialist, Scoring Content and Quality acts as the dedicated Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more hand scoring contracts. This position centers on overseeing content and quality at the project level. It ensures scoring tasks achieve exceptional accuracy and comply with client expectations by drawing upon extensive knowledge in English Language Arts (ELA) in both Speaking and Writing.

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports To: This role reports to a Manager within Scoring Services, Content and Quality.
  • Directs: This role provides project-level guidance and direction to Scoring Directors and Supervisors on all content- and quality-related activities.

Responsibilities and Duties

As the dedicated owner of project-level content and quality, this role is responsible for:

  • Project Execution: Assuming direct ownership of all content and quality deliverables for assigned scoring projects, from project start-up through post-project analysis.
  • Training and Development: Developing and delivering item-specific training to mentor and guide Scoring Directors, Supervisors, and Scorers on all project-specific content and quality expectations.
  • Content Expertise: Applying thorough knowledge of state and national standards for ELA and Social Studies to guide the development of scoring materials and serve as the subject matter expert in meetings with clients and educators.
  • Communication and Logistics: Ensuring clear, daily communication with internal teams and external clients to foster a strong team environment and ensure project alignment.

Key Performance Objectives

  • Consistently meet or exceed quality, efficiency, and delivery targets for all assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain a highly engaged and effective team of Scoring Directors and Supervisors.
  • Establish a strong, collaborative partnership with internal project managers and external clients, serving as a trusted and reliable content expert.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in English, Social Sciences, or Humanities is strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) years of assessment industry experience as a Scoring Director or equivalent lead role.
  • Experience leading remote scoring teams in multiple ELA/Social Studies projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of scoring reports and data-driven management.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools.

Working Conditions

  • Location: This is a fully remote position. The employee must maintain a home office environment that is safe, secure, professional, and conducive to productive work.
  • Schedule: This role requires a flexible schedule. While a typical workday aligns with standard business hours (e.g., 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST), the demands of project deadlines and collaboration across different time zones may require occasional work during early mornings, late evenings, or weekends.
  • Travel: Occasional travel (approximately 5-10%) for client meetings, team workshops, or company events may be required.
  • Physical Demands: This role involves prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, as well as frequent use of standard office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, and video conferencing tools.

Starting hourly rate: $25

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
