This position works closely with geologists, environmental scientists, civil designers, and project managers to develop safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions for mining clients. Penn E&R serves mining and energy-sector clients and emphasizes technical excellence, project management, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop surface activity site design plans with appropriate surface water management practices.
  • Conduct field investigations and evaluate geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological conditions.
  • Prepare engineering reports, permit applications, technical specifications, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support environmental assessments, remediation projects, and mine reclamation activities.
  • Analyze site data and provide recommendations regarding mine operations, slope stability, drainage, and earthwork design.
  • Coordinate with environmental scientists, geologists, surveyors, and civil designers.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client communications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mining and environmental regulations.
  • Support health and safety initiatives during field and construction activities.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and business development

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred.
  • Experience in mining operations, mine site design, mine permitting, environmental consulting, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
  • Experience with project management and coordination of field activities.
  • Knowledge of mining regulations, permitting processes, and reclamation requirements.
  • Familiarity with water resources, stormwater management, and site development projects
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

We know that great work happens when people feel supported both on and off the job. That’s why we offer balance and benefits that support you.

  • Competitive compensation and performance-based bonuses
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits
  • Paid time off and flexible scheduling where possible
  • A strong commitment to field and office safety
  • A stable, growing company with local roots and regional impact

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
