Responsibilites:

Technical

  • Interpret and translate civil engineering designs, survey data, and specifications into detailed technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Prepare and revise civil engineering drawings, including site plans, grading plans, drainage plans, utility plans, and road profiles, for construction purposes.
  • Assist in the preparation of earthwork calculations and volume estimations based on topographic data and design plans.
  • Develop detailed drawings for underground utilities, including water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
  • Generate roadway plans, profiles, and cross-sections, including pavement markings, signage, and traffic control details.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to company standards, industry codes, and project specifications.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Collaborate with civil engineers to clarify design requirements and resolve drafting issues.
  • Coordinate with surveyors to ensure accurate integration of survey data into design drawings.
  • Attend design review meetings and provide input on drafting-related issues.
  • Organise and maintain project drawings and related documentation.
  • Meet project deadlines and maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and project stakeholders.

Professional Development

  • Keep up to date with the latest CAD software and drafting techniques, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Continuously improve drafting skills and knowledge through training and experience.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of relevant industry codes and standards for civil engineering projects.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of company drafting standards and procedures.
  • Seek guidance from senior drafters and engineers to enhance technical knowledge.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant ISO standards and ensure project document is retained as per HSEQ Management System
  • Play a key role in developing and delivering systems or project administration training for employees.
  • Participate in HSEQ training, report incidents, and support a culture of safety and quality.
  • Follow safety rules, identify and address risks, and promote a safe workplace.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Proactively identify and assess potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement measures to ensure safety in design and on site
  • Participate in Emergency Preparedness activities e.g. fire evacuations

Innovation

  • Participate in discussions on work system improvements, including leveraging technology for information sharing, management, and quality control.
  • Actively engage in reviewing work standards and monitoring processes, initiating recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists clients to identify sustainable options and implications.
  • Bring ideas forward on how we can improve the way we deliver our partner experience.
  • Accurately track and document drawing revisions, ensuring that all project stakeholders have access to the latest information.
  • Assist in the preparation of material take-offs and schedules based on civil drawings.
