As we continue to grow our Bulgaria-based team, we’re hiring an experienced QA Team Lead to own our automation and AI-driven testing strategy. You’ll lead and mentor a team of QA engineers while staying hands-on building automation frameworks, embedding AI-assisted testing into our workflows, and pushing our QA function from manual/scripted toward intelligent, self-maintaining test suites. You’ll own planning and execution of QA activities, define and enforce standards, integrate automated and AI-assisted checks into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable testing outcomes at speed. testing outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the automation strategy and roadmap, not just “lead QA engineers” — make it clear this is a builder role, not just people management
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing tools — e.g., AI-generated test cases from requirements/tickets, self-healing locators, AI-driven visual regression, flaky-test detection and triage
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging AI/QA tooling and make build-vs-buy calls (ties to your own AI tooling strategy work at Perkbox)
  • Reduce manual regression effort by expanding automation coverage and introducing AI-assisted test maintenance

Skills & Experience required:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in Automation QA, with at least 2 years as leading the QA strategy
  • Hands-on experience applying AI/LLM tooling to QA e.g., AI-generated test cases, self-healing test scripts, LLM-assisted test data generation, intelligent flaky-test detection, or AI code-review/test-coverage analysis tools
  • Solid experience with Playwright and Maestro, plus test management tools (Testdino, PractiTest, or similar) and accessibility testing tools (Deque, Axe‑core, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline architecture and integration i.e. GitLab CI, GitHub actions, ArgoCD
  • Proven track record designing and scaling test automation frameworks from scratch (not just maintaining existing suites)
  • Comfortable prototyping scripts/tools with Python or TypeScript to extend AI-assisted testing pipelines

Work Mode & Salary

  • Remote working within Bulgaria only. We do have an office in Plovdiv should you wish to work hybrid.
  • Gross annual salary: €52,000 to €56,000 based on experience

Interview Process

  • 45 minute interview with the Senior Talent Advisor
  • 45 minute strategy and design interview with the Director of Engineering
  • 60 minute technical interview with an Engineering Manager + Staff Engineer
