Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign the functions to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Job functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Schedule drivers and organize the daily dispatch of equipment for the branch.
  • Coordinate with customers, branch personnel, and vendors to coordinate transportation for equipment needs on a normal and emergency basis.
  • Update dispatch schedule to reflect additions, cancellations, and equipment location changes.
  • Ensure accuracy of rental contract prior to dispatching driver.
  • Assist with customer inquiries and suggest equipment and supplies to meet customer needs in person and over the phone.
  • Write rental agreements.
  • Produce and process rental invoices.
  • Perform customer’s credit checks and insurance availability.
  • Communicate equipment and attachment availability to internal and external customers.
  • Create service call sheets.
  • Enter relevant customer activity in customer relationship management system.
  • Perform inventory control and security processes, including frequent inventory counts.
  • Foster customer relations to improve customer loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Check equipment returning from rental for damage, record hours used, mileage, and fuel levels for billing purposes.
  • Inspect equipment and trucks for safety decals and other compliance requirements.
  • Follow up with customers via phone to obtain information required to complete rental requests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of competitor’s practices and rental rates.
  • Maintain a record of all unfilled (lost) rental requests.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, ensuring equipment is in good working order, preparing equipment for rental, and making deliveries.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and attachments.
  • Assist in the preparation of rental reports as assigned.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, rules, and laws.
  • Follow all Cresco Operational Procedures, quality control (QC) Standards, and cash accounts procedures.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle occasionally to assist others in the performance of their essential job functions.

JOB SCOPE

This position serves in the capacity of the Cresco Dispatcher. General discretion and judgment is exercised routinely in the execution of job duties. If errors in judgment or professional execution of responsibilities are made, the consequences to the department can be significant.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS

Internal contacts consist of levels of positions in the company from business unit leaders to entry level positions. This position regularly deals with employees and customers in exchange of information in person, writing, via telephone, or by electronic transfer. Sensitivity is required in dealing with such information and decisions concerning the release or sharing of that information. External contacts consist of customers, visitors, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, safely and in alignment with Peterson’s core values. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Working knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations required.
  • Working knowledge of Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and state regulations regarding height and weight maximums required.
  • Knowledge of winch operations, hazmat transport, and placarding preferred.
  • Working knowledge of equipment applications and transportation requirements preferred.

The pay range for this position is: $32.58 - $37.63 (Starting wage will depend on experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary).
