Role summary
Business Assessment (BA) is an exciting, highly collaborative, and dynamic team of professionals responsible for generating the investment cases for all pipeline and business development decisions. BA's assessments are independent by design: our credibility rests on applying the same rigor whether the analysis supports or challenges the case for investment. BA sits within Pfizer’s Global Commercial Analytics (GCA) organization under the Chief Marketing Office — a center of analytical excellence that unifies revenue forecasting across BD, in-line, and pipeline assets and elevates BA's strategic contribution across the full asset lifecycle. Our BA team is valued for proactive thought leadership, epi-forecasting expertise, innovative analytical capabilities, and ability to communicate complex and dynamic information in clear, concise, and creative ways.
The Director partners with commercial leadership, asset leads, Therapeutic Area Leadership Teams, and Worldwide Business Development to champion internal pipeline and external opportunities aligned with strategy and investment criteria. This role independently leads several concurrent commercial assessments — internal POC study-start and Phase 3 business cases, external BD cases, and early pipeline forecasts — ensuring thorough, consistent analysis to inform critical investment decisions and structure appropriate deal terms.
The Director also provides strategic input on trade-off decisions between investment options, holds forecasting and assessment approaches consistent across internal and external options, and leads the presentation of analysis and recommendations to oncology leadership. This includes leading Operating Plan submissions and keeping forecasts current for corporate-level prioritization. Given BA's flexible resourcing model across both Categories and enterprise projects, the Director may also take on other strategy projects, disease-area opportunities, potential M&A evaluations, emerging-technology platform assessments, or senior-management requests as needed.

- Take and defend an independent position before oncology leadership, including recommending against an opportunity on limited information
- Own Oncology’s inputs to Operating Plan and Long-Range Forecast cycles, including integration of pipeline and BD forecasts

- Set the team’s standard for AI-enabled assessment: evidence synthesis, competitive landscaping, model QC, and executive materials, with every assumption traceable to its source

- Demonstrated ownership of patient-based revenue forecasting and business-case work from initial build to executive-ready recommendation
