Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid - Audubon, PA

The (Sr.) Lead Analyst/Engineer plays a key role in advancing the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and demand-side resources into the PJM wholesale electricity markets. As part of the Demand Side Markets team, this position supports the market platforms, operational processes, and stakeholder engagement efforts that enable a rapidly growing portfolio of distributed resources to contribute to reliable and cost-effective grid operations across the PJM footprint, serving more than 67 million people.

This role sits at the intersection of power systems, electricity markets, technology, and customer engagement. The successful candidate will collaborate with PJM Members, power system operators, software development teams, market experts, and industry stakeholders to support and enhance the participation of demand response, distributed energy resources, and emerging grid-edge technologies in PJM's Capacity, Energy, and Ancillary Services markets.

Responsibilities include analyzing complex operational and market data, developing and implementing business rules and market requirements, supporting critical grid operations during emergency conditions, and driving enhancements to the systems and processes that enable demand-side resource participation. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, technical proficiency with data and system interfaces, and the ability to translate complex market and operational concepts into clear guidance for internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, power system operations, data analytics, and regulatory frameworks with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. This individual will represent PJM in member-facing forums, lead industry discussions, educate stakeholders on market requirements and evolving policies, and help shape future demand-side resource market design and implementation initiatives that support grid reliability, affordability, and the ongoing energy transition.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform data analysis and document results using tools such as MS Excel, SAS and SQL queries of relational database
  • Ability to analyze electric customer load and generation meter data.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to PJM membership. Must be able to address specific customer issues in a clear, concise and professional manner through excellent communication.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional work with other members of the Market Services Division, System Operations Division, Planning Division, and IT Division in problem-solving and streamlining processes.
  • Ability to work closely with software development teams to enhance software applications critical to managing DR and DER.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other similar major
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Passion for the mission of delivering reliable and cost-effective electricity
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
  • Knowledge of retail electric customer concepts and wholesale electricity markets.

Preferred:

  • MS, Engineering, Statistics, Business Administration or other relevant field
  • Experience with PJM operations or markets
  • Experience in the electric utility, demand response, or DER aggregation sectors

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
