The posting

Planetary is looking for a Managing Director (Fondsdirektør) to lead Planetary A/S and the continued development of its two investment funds: Planetary Impact Ventures and Planetary Soil Fund.

At Planetary, we invest in companies and farmland aligned with our guiding principles. We invest in companies with a focus on long-term business models within planetary boundaries, and in degraded farmland and partners who are committed to soil regeneration. Our commitment is manifested in our evergreen structure. Our focus is biodiversity, agriculture and food, and we aim to provide a fair financial return. We want to inspire and contribute to a restructuring of our economic systems, a redefinition of what value is, and increase our understanding and reconnection with nature and life on the planet.

At Planetary, our work does not stop with investments. Our theory of change is focusing on a systemic and broad approach. We work to nourish and contribute to the community around us. We believe that value alignment between investors, us as intermediaries, and our portfolio companies is essential to the success of our shared mission. These principles are instrumental to the way we work – and who we are.

The role

As Managing Director, you will have the overall responsibility for Planetary A/S, ensuring strong governance and compliance, performance and development of the funds. You will report to the Board, and work closely with all the people working at Planetary.

Your work will be grounded in a deep commitment to systems change and a transition towards organic-regenerative food and agriculture.

Key responsibilities

Planetary and organisational leadership

· Lead and develop Planetary’s organisation and its two funds in close collaboration with the Board, the active Partners, the Investment Committees and Fund Directors.

· Take responsibility for Planetary’s financial management, budgets and allocation of resources.

· Lead fundraising and relationships with LPs and key stakeholders.

· Take responsibility for company-level reporting and compliance in coordination with our fund directors.

· Ensure strong governance, transparent Board reporting and effective follow-up on decisions.

· Ensure that Planetary’s impact objectives are integrated into investment strategy, portfolio management and decision-making across both funds.

· Lead according to the culture rooted in Planetary’s values, combining intellectual curiosity, courage and humility with collaboration, care for people and planet, sound commercial judgment and high standards.

Together with the Fund Directors

· Support the investment teams, ensuring sound investment practices, high-quality investment decisions and effective collaboration with the Investment Committees and the Board.

· Support founders and management teams of the companies where Planetary can contribute experience, perspective and network.

· Maintain oversight of portfolio performance, risks, opportunities and capital requirements.

· Take board roles in portfolio companies.

You have:

· Experience with investing.

· Proven track record in operational leadership and business development.

· Strong analytical and financial management skills.

· Experience in people leadership and organisational development.

· Good communication, interpersonal skills and stakeholder management abilities.

· A deeply rooted commitment to contributing to a healthier planet.

You are likely to have:

· Several years’ experience from venture capital, impact investment, private equity or another relevant investment environment.

· A solid understanding of fund economics, fund raising, portfolio performance and investments.

· An understanding of impact management and the integration of financial and impact objectives.

Experience within food and organic-regenerative agriculture is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. Commitment to transforming the food system towards a more regenerative and resilient future is essential.

The right candidate

You are an experienced leader with a strong understanding of investments and of how capital can contribute to systemic change.

You combine sound judgement and the ability to create momentum with curiosity, collaboration and humility. You enjoy working in a small organisation where people remain close to the work and are motivated by long-term development.

Our guiding principles

Stay humble: Seeking to understand and improve the conditions for life on the planet is a task of infinite complexity. Grounded by nature, we stay humble and sincere in everything we do.

Learn with nature: Inspiration in nature and its biological processes will guide our investments. We shall adapt ourselves to nature, rather than forcing nature to comply with us.

Perceive wealth holistically: True wealth is much more than money in the bank. We perceive wealth as well-being and harmony between humans, nature and the economy.

Trust patient capital: Real value takes time to manifest. We support long-term business models and real value creation over quick profit maximisation.

Build strong communities: Strong communities build resilience and awareness. We strive to create movement and stronger connections within the networks we grow with.

Advocate for change: Real change depends on systemic change. We dedicate ourselves to create real, tangible change and assume leadership towards a new paradigm.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
