Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation median: 7 days open

The posting

This role is designed as a developmental entry point into homeowner claims adjusting at Plymouth Rock. You will begin by conducting on-site property inspections, documenting damage, taking measurements, and communicating your findings to the handling adjuster. For a candidate who demonstrates strong performance, excellent time management, professionalism and empathy with policyholders, and a clear desire to learn homeowner claims adjusting, there may be an opportunity to be considered for a permanent role.

This position requires regular field travel within approximately one to two hours of your home. Because you will often meet policyholders during stressful circumstances, clear communication, professionalism, empathy, reliability, and good judgment are essential.

  • This is a contractor position with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on demonstrated performance, readiness, business needs, and available opportunities.
  • Plymouth Rock will provide basic equipment needed for the assignment.
  • The contractor is responsible for maintaining reliable transportation for required field travel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections at insured properties and represent Plymouth Rock professionally in every policyholder interaction.
  • Capture thorough, high-quality photo documentation of reported and visible damage to the structure, roofing, siding, interior, and personal property, as applicable.
  • Take accurate measurements and field notes needed by the handling adjuster to scope and evaluate the loss.
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly and promptly using company-approved tools and documentation standards.
  • Set appropriate expectations with policyholders regarding the inspection process, next steps, and adjuster follow-up.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors for mitigation or temporary repairs when directed by the handling adjuster.
  • Identify and flag potential subrogation sources or liability exposures observed during an inspection.
  • Manage a daily field schedule effectively and complete inspections and documentation within required timeframes.
  • Maintain a professional, empathetic, service-focused approach with policyholders throughout every interaction.

Travel expectations vary, but candidates should expect to routinely travel one to two hours from home on a daily basis.

Development Opportunity

This assignment is intended for someone who wants to build a career in homeowner claims. Candidates who demonstrate the skills, judgment, reliability, and learning mindset needed for claims adjusting may be considered for transition to a permanent claims role as business needs and opportunities allow.

  • Build foundational knowledge of property construction, damage indicators, claim documentation, and policyholder communication.
  • Learn the fundamentals of estimate writing, coverage application, reserving, and scope-of-loss documentation.
  • Develop toward greater ownership of homeowner property claims, including investigation, evaluation, estimating, and settlement.

Qualifications

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage a field schedule and meet documentation deadlines.
  • Professional, empathetic, and clear communication with policyholders, particularly during stressful situations.
  • A demonstrated desire to learn homeowner claims adjusting and grow your knowledge of property claims.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and document relevant damage indicators.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt quickly, follow direction, and apply feedback in a field environment.
  • Construction, mitigation, remediation, property inspection, or related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology.
  • Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. and conduct roof inspections on homes under two stories.
  • A valid driver's license and proficient driving record.
  • Reliable transportation for regular travel to policyholder properties and other assigned field locations.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $67,000 a year. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
