The posting

Business Analysis Manager

The Business Analysis Manager is the primary link between the business and IT for incoming project work and production issues, and the leader of the Business Analyst (BA) team. This role owns project intake and incident tracking, serves as the face of the BA team to business stakeholders, project managers, and IT leadership, and guides, develops, and supports a team of BAs to deliver maximum business value through effective systems analysis, requirements gathering, and process improvement.

The Business Analysis Manager works closely with senior business and IT leadership to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and drive continuous improvement in the BA function. This position requires exceptional communication skills, deep analytical expertise, and the resilience to navigate complex projects with patience, diplomacy, and focus.

This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment with constant competing demands. The ideal candidate stays calm and organized under pressure, tracks many projects and issues at once, and is self-motivated to keep work moving without waiting to be asked.

Key Responsibilities

Project Intake & Incident Tracking (Primary focus)

  • Manage the intake process for new project requests and enhancements: log, evaluate, and prioritize incoming work.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, project managers, and IT leadership to define scope, objectives, and success criteria for incoming initiatives.
  • Assign BA resources to initiatives based on priority, skills, and capacity.
  • Maintain a clear, current worklist of projects, issues, and priorities for the BA and development teams.
  • Triage, log, and coordinate the response to production work orders and incidents; track each through resolution and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Coordinate project estimation with development teams and deliver cost estimates to stakeholders once requirements are complete.
  • Gather dependency information from development teams and project managers to support project schedules.
  • Assist in tracking budget spend across the development teams and advise development managers of potential issues.

Business Communication & Team Representation

  • Serve as the face of the BA team and the centralized point of contact for project managers and business stakeholders on resource availability, project status, and incident updates.
  • Represent project and incident status in meetings with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Work with senior business and IT leadership to align priorities, set expectations, and communicate scope, trade-offs, and risks clearly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Development, QA, UAT, Infrastructure) to align solutions with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with vendors, including Comparative Rater providers, to manage deliverables and maintain productive partnerships.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Business Analysts to enhance skills, consistency, and performance.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, managing performance through regular feedback and formal reviews.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for BAs and programmers.
  • Establish, maintain, and champion standards, methods, and best practices for business analysis across the organization.

Business Analysis Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee requirements elicitation, impact analysis, and documentation for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Perform workflow analysis, develop workflow diagrams, and recommend process improvements by defining “current state” and “future state” systems.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards and practices to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Collect, analyze, and share key performance metrics to drive improvements in BA processes.
  • Demonstrate and implement innovative approaches that shorten delivery cycles, reduce rework, and improve system capabilities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of experience in the software development lifecycle, with a strong background in Business Analysis for IT-driven projects.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or developing Business Analysts or similar technical staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and evolving priorities.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, incidents, and shifting priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
  • Ability to remain composed, professional, and effective in a high-pressure, high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Ability to work on site in Boston, MA four days per week (required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Highly desirable: INS and CPCU certifications.
  • Highly desirable: Knowledge of APIs, web services, and related technologies (SQL, XML, HTML, XSLT, JSON) and tools such as Postman, REST API, and SoapUI.
  • 10+ years of BA experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance domain.
  • Project Management or related certifications.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, FullStory, and Heap.
  • IIBA CBAP and AAC certifications (a plus).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
