The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Fraud & Risk Associate based in Brazil.

As a Fraud & Risk Associate, you will play a key role in protecting players, digital assets, and platform integrity within a dynamic gaming environment. You will investigate fraud, payment abuse, account security incidents, and suspicious in-game activity using transaction records, system logs, and behavioral data. Your work will help distinguish legitimate player activity from malicious behavior while ensuring fair and consistent decisions. You will manage cases from initial investigation through resolution, collaborating with internal teams and external providers when needed. You will also identify emerging fraud trends, strengthen detection processes, and contribute to improving operational policies and procedures. This is an opportunity to combine analytical thinking, investigative judgment, and a genuine passion for gaming in a fully remote, international environment.

Accountabilities

  • Investigate refund abuse and chargeback fraud by analyzing patterns across player accounts, payment methods, transaction histories, and purchasing behavior.
  • Identify and investigate in-game exploits and virtual economy abuse, including unauthorized trading, bot activity, and manipulation of game systems.
  • Manage account takeover investigations from start to finish, determining whether accounts have been compromised, containing threats, securing accounts, and supporting player recovery.
  • Review identity and age verification cases, identify potential attempts to circumvent verification processes, and take appropriate action in accordance with established policies.
  • Analyze administrative tools, system logs, device information, session records, payment data, and account histories to establish the facts behind suspicious activity.
  • Document investigations and decisions clearly, ensuring that findings, supporting evidence, actions taken, and conclusions are understandable and traceable.
  • Escalate complex cases or incidents involving significant financial, security, or reputational risks, providing organized evidence and relevant context.
  • Handle Trust & Safety escalations, including ban appeals, player safety concerns, and policy violations that require investigation beyond frontline moderation.
  • Identify recurring fraud patterns, emerging abuse techniques, and weaknesses in automated detection systems, including instances of false positives or inaccurate decisions.
  • Coordinate with Payments, Customer Support, and external service providers to resolve cases requiring cross-functional investigation.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures, response templates, internal documentation, and investigation workflows.
  • At least 2 years of experience in fraud investigation, risk analysis, payment operations, KYC/AML, account security, Trust & Safety, or a closely related field.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to gather evidence, test hypotheses, assess credibility, and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Experience analyzing transaction data, system logs, account histories, and behavioral patterns to identify suspicious activity across individual cases and broader trends.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly when handling ambiguous situations or cases that require interpretation beyond established policies.
  • Fluency in both English and Portuguese, with strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured investigation reports.
  • Comfort using administrative dashboards, CRM platforms, ticketing systems, and internal investigation tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A genuine interest in gaming and an understanding of the importance of player trust, community well-being, fair enforcement, and a positive gaming experience.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fully remote environment.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including daytime or nighttime schedules, according to operational requirements.
  • Reliable high-speed internet, a stable electricity supply, and a suitable home workstation.
  • Previous experience in mobile, online, or live-service gaming, especially with virtual economies or in-game currencies, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with chargebacks, payment disputes, payment providers, account takeover investigations, phishing, or credential theft is a plus.
  • Knowledge of identity verification providers and age assurance workflows is beneficial.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) are desirable.
  • Experience using SQL or working with large datasets to investigate fraud patterns at scale is an additional advantage.
  • A background in content moderation, player support, or broader Trust & Safety operations is also beneficial.
  • Remote work: Work from Brazil in a fully remote position.
  • Flexible shift opportunities: Work assigned daytime or nighttime shifts based on operational needs.
  • Meaningful impact: Help protect players, prevent financial abuse, and maintain the integrity of online gaming communities.
  • Investigative ownership: Handle cases end to end, from evidence gathering and analysis to resolution and documentation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Payments, Support, Trust & Safety, and external providers to address complex issues.
  • Continuous learning: Develop expertise in fraud prevention, payment risk, account security, identity verification, and gaming-related abuse.
  • Process improvement: Contribute to better investigation procedures, internal tools, documentation, and fraud detection practices.
  • Dynamic environment: Work in an evolving gaming ecosystem where new technologies, player behaviors, and fraud methods create opportunities to learn and adapt.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
