Job Summary:

The Logistics Specialist, Small Parcel owns our small parcel program end to end: carriers and vendors, field operations, and customer experience. This position will be the single point of accountability for small parcel performance, cost, and service, and will build the processes that let the program scale through integration.

Responsibilities:

Vendor and Carrier Management

  • Serves as primary owner of relationships with parcel carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS, regional carriers) and related vendors (packaging, software, audit providers)
  • •Leads carrier negotiations, contract renewals, and general rate increase (GRI) responses; manage accessorials, surcharges, and minimums
  • Runs quarterly business reviews with carriers using scorecards for on-time delivery, damage, claims, and billing accuracy
  • Oversees freight audit and pay; identify billing errors and recovers refunds and credits
  • Manages carrier claims for loss and damage through resolution
  • Evaluates and onboards new carriers or service levels to improve cost and transit coverage
  • Assesses the acquired business's small parcel profile: volumes, carriers, contracts, systems, and service levels
  • Builds and executes the plan to consolidate carriers, migrate shippers, and leverage combined volume for better rates
  • Scales processes, documentation, and training so the program can absorb added volume without service disruption
  • Identifies risks early and keeps stakeholders informed through each integration phase

Field and Operations Support

  • Acts as the go-to resource for warehouse, distribution, and branch teams on small parcel processes
  • Standardizes shipping procedures across sites: carrier selection, packaging, labeling, pickup schedules, and cutoff times
  • Visits sites to audit practices, train staff, and resolve recurring issues
  • Troubleshoots daily exceptions: missed pickups, delays, misroutes, address corrections, and returns
  • Partners with operations leaders to improve throughout, accuracy, and packaging efficiency (dimensional weight)

Customer Experience

  • Owns the small parcel experience customers see, from order shipment to delivery and returns
  • Acts as escalation point for customer shipping issues and works with Customer Service and Sales to resolve them
  • Sets and communicates service-level expectations, transit times, and shipping options
  • Supports customer-specific shipping requirements, routing guides, and compliance programs
  • Tracks customer-facing metrics and drive root-cause fixes for repeat problems

Data, Systems, and Cost Control

  • Builds and maintains dashboards for spend, cost per package, service performance, and claims
  • Manages small parcel budget and forecasting; reports results and savings to leadership
  • Administers shipping systems (TMS, multi-carrier shipping software, carrier portals) and ensures rate tables and business rules are accurate
  • Recommends rate shopping, zone skipping, consolidation, and mode-shift opportunities
  • Analyzes parcel spend data including lane analysis, zone distribution, service-level utilization, dimensional weight impact, and carrier invoice auditing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of logistics or transportation experience, with a focus on small parcel
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing parcel cost reduction initiatives through network optimization, carrier diversification, contract negotiations, and service-level management.
  • Hands-on experience managing parcel carrier relationships and contracts, including rate negotiations
  • Working knowledge of parcel pricing: zones, dimensional weight, accessorials, surcharges, and GRIs
  • Experience with freight audit, invoice reconciliation, and claims management
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and comfort analyzing large shipment data sets
  • Proven ability to work across operations, customer service, sales, and finance
  • Clear communicator who can present to leadership and train frontline teams

Preferred

  • Multi-site or multi-warehouse shipping experience
  • Experience with multi-carrier shipping software or TMS
  • ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Exposure to parcel consulting or audit firms and benchmarking practices
  • APICS/ASCM (CSCP, CLTD) or similar certification
  • Experience with hazmat or regulated shipments, if applicable to our products
  • Experience managing annual parcel spend exceeding $5M and volumes exceeding 100,000 packages annually preferred

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
