Who Are We?

Postman is the world’s leading API platform, used by more than 45 million+ developers and 500,000 organizations, including 98% of the Fortune 500. Postman is helping developers and professionals across the globe build the API-first world by simplifying each step of the API lifecycle and streamlining collaboration—enabling users to create better APIs, faster.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in Boston, New York, Austin, Tokyo, London, and Bangalore - where Postman was founded. Postman is privately held, with funding from Battery Ventures, BOND, Coatue, CRV, Insight Partners, and Nexus Venture Partners. P.S: We highly recommend reading The "API-First World" graphic novel to understand the bigger picture and our vision at Postman.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious frontend engineer to own bigger and bigger portions of our UX, as part of an 0-1 initiative. With Postman Insights, our vision is to help guide a developer with little previous experience—in both the system being monitored and the Postman API Platform—to productively find and fix issues. Our goal is to be able to help any developer locate API endpoints causing potential issues within 15 minutes of signing up for an account. This will empower even a new developer to find and fix issues in their first days on the job, as easily as they can call an API today.

As we prepare to launch our open beta, we’re looking for a frontend software engineer to help us bring our Postman Insights product to life. Right now, we’ve launched an alpha to a small number of users and have learned a lot from that launch. To deliver our intended developer experience, we’ll need to iterate with our users to get the UX right. We’re looking for an engineer who can focus on the frontend, excited about designing and refining the user interface on a weekly basis to get our product ready for a larger number of users. The goal is to be the best product in the world for our main workflow ahead of the beta launch.

Read more here about our vision. See our docs here.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new capabilities for the Postman Insights product, focusing on frontend development to enhance user experience and making end-user impacting improvements to the UX.
  • Quickly prototype, experiment, and iterate on core product features, specifically within the user interface, to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineers to spec, build, test, and deliver new features efficiently.
  • Contribute to frontend architectural and design decisions alongside the team, ensuring scalability and performance for the Postman Insights product.

About You

To deliver our intended developer experience, we’ll need to iterate with our alpha users to get the UX right. We’re looking for an engineer who can focus on the frontend and is excited about helping developers better understand their own systems through a compelling user interface.

  • Strong implementation skills. Can quickly write large amounts of efficient, high-quality code that works!
  • Pragmatic and independent. Excited about finding minimal solutions to build the next feature and capable of unblocking themselves to solve problems efficiently.
  • Good product sense. Deeply understands users and is able to work with designers and the rest of the team to make well-scoped plans for achieving user goals.
  • Moves fast. We’re going to be prototyping and iterating with our alpha users weekly. We’re looking for someone who thrives on this pace.
  • Excellent communication skills. We’re a distributed engineering team moving quickly, and clear communication is essential.
  • Based in the US. Substantial overlap with the Pacific Time Zone.

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of frontend development experience.
  • Track record of delivery. Impressive portfolio of past projects launched.
  • Experience working independently. 2+ substantial past projects where they were the sole contributor responsible for delivering large parts of the work.
  • Proven experience with modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, TypeScript).

Nice To Have

  • Experience working on a 0-to-1 product.
  • Experience working on data-intensive UX.
  • Experience shipping B2B products.

The reasonably estimated OTE for this role is $170,000 to $190,000 plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
