The posting

Position: Multimedia Journalist Position Type: Full time, Permanent (Existing Vacancy) Location: London, ON (Remote)   The Company:    Postmedia is a Canadian news media company representing more than 110 brands across multiple print, online and mobile platforms. Award-winning journalists and innovative product development teams bring engaging content to millions of people every week whenever and wherever they want it.     This exceptional content, reach and scope offers advertisers and marketers compelling solutions to effectively reach target audiences. We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.     The Opportunity:  Working remotely in London with others in The London Free Press newsroom, you meet the twin demands of speed and quality as a multimedia journalist able to move up a fast learning curve. An enterprising self-starter and team player, you have a sense for stories that resonate with London’s diverse readership. The position requires working to tight deadlines, in clear, concise writing that engages readers, covering a wide range of news, entertainment and other subjects. Critical is the ability to use digital tools to break and develop stories, reflecting readers' real-time interests.   The position begins in September 2026.   What you’ll do:

Report and write stories – and be able to shoot photos for them – for digital and print audiences, and tailor content to meet those platforms’ varying needs. Have and develop local story ideas daily, a job essential along with the flexibility to quickly pivot to other newsroom priorities to meet changing needs. Use social media and other digital tools to find out what’s breaking and what Londoners in real time are talking about and which quickly needs our attention. Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda. File video clips for digital platforms; work with digital teams to create interactive content and other multimedia elements that both engage and enrich readers.

  Who you are:

A journalism school graduate or candidate from a related field. Newsroom experience is an asset. You must be able to quickly layer and prioritize needs to move up a learning curve. Flexible to write effectively in breaking news, features and short form, a job essential, along with non-traditional story formats such as explainers and Q/As. Hungry to make the most of a chance to work in a daily newsroom with top-notch journalists and eager to show what you can do to help the room. A digger, not satisfied with pat answers; always looking for hidden story angles and with a talent, or developing one, for explanatory journalism. A reporter interested not just in what happened or is happening, but also why and how, with the ability to concisely convey that added meaning to readers. Experience and strength in video or podcast presentation is an asset. A valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle are also assets.

Compensation:  Employment offers presented to the selected candidate are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role and the candidate's location.  Union Start Rate: $917.01/weekly   This is a unionized position subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement. The starting salary listed in this job posting is based on the Year 1 rate outlined in the collective agreement. Offers will be made based on the candidate's qualifications and experience Applications: Interested applicants should apply without delay, including a resume, covering letter explaining why the job should be for them and samples of their work.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
