Job Summary

As a Childcare Supervisor, you would assist the Childcare Manager with daily operations and staff supervision in a state-certified childcare setting. This role supports scheduling, staffing, training, and capacity management, and serves as Substitute Director when the Manager is off-site. As a Childcare Supervisor, you would also care for infants, toddlers, and children from 6 weeks to 10 years in a state-certified drop-in daycare. Daycare is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, seven days a week. The job takes place indoors, with daily outdoor play with children. Must have a Central Background Registry (CBR) Number. Please register at:

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

  • Support the Childcare Manager with day-to-day operations.
  • Assist in planning and developing curriculum and programs.
  • Serve as Substitute Director when the Manager is off-site.
  • Supervise Childcare Aides when they are with children, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Perform all duties of a Childcare Aide when necessary.
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, and capacity management.
  • Document and support disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Assist in conducting performance reviews for teachers and aides
  • Assist in hiring and termination processes.
  • Provide training and support for continuing education for staff.
  • Assist with sales and reservations as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of up to 25 employees.
  • Positions supervised: Childcare Teacher, Childcare Aide.
  • Works with the Manager to build schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels.

Education/Related Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) policies preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Availability to work holidays, including Christmas, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Presidents Day, as scheduled.
  • Must have an active CBR number or ability to obtain one prior to starting is required (applicants under the age of 18 are exempt).
  • Must pass a background check and obtain required certifications (First Aid/CPR, Food Handler’s Card).

Specific Job Skills

  • License/Certifications: Teacher qualification - Oregon Department of Early Learning Ability to pass a criminal background check. Current & valid OR Food Handler’s card, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Physical Capabilities: Able to bend and lift constantly throughout the day.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, climb, push, and pull frequently.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Walk and work on uneven surfaces.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snow, sun, and changing temperatures.
  • Maintain visual awareness and respond quickly to changing situations involving children.

Current Hiring Rate: 23.50/hr
