Job Summary
The Carpenter works under the direction of the Project Manager to meet the project’s expected goals. The Carpenter will work in the warehouse and on-site, depending on the work being completed. Carpenters implement scopes of work that adhere to the quality standards of Downs Construction.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining professionalism and presenting Downs Construction positively to various stakeholders
- Interpreting and creating comprehensive scopes of work
- Demonstrating skill in the safe operation of tools and equipment
- Following all company policies and standards
- Completing all necessary documentation
- Coaching, assisting, and delegating tasks to labourers and sub trades
- Practicing good housekeeping on the job and in the warehouse
- Dealing with a changing work environment daily
- Understanding different municipal and provincial building code requirements
- Completing jobs in an efficient and timely manner
Requirements
- Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) or work experience equivalent
- Must have a valid BC driver’s license, preferably class 5
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check to our approval
- Must be detail-oriented
- Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment
- Practical knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance is preferred
- Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures is preferred
- Willing and able to work on-call for after-hours emergency work
- Experience in the restoration industry is considered to be an asset
- Strong customer service skills

Compensation
Wage: $27.00 - $39.00 per hour (based on experience)
