PostgreSQL Support Engineer

Contract duration: 1+1 year / 2 years

Role Summary

We are looking for a PostgreSQL Support Engineer to provide operational support, database administration, vulnerability remediation, and security patch management for PostgreSQL environments. The resource will be responsible for resolving database issues, assessing security vulnerabilities (CVEs), implementing fixes, and ensuring platform stability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
  • Perform database backup, restore, recovery, and health checks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL performance, availability, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor security advisories and identify PostgreSQL-related CVEs affecting the environment.
  • Assess vulnerability impact and implement remediation actions, including security patching and upgrades.
  • Coordinate testing, deployment, and validation of patches in accordance with change management processes.
  • Work with infrastructure, application, and security teams to resolve vulnerabilities and operational issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and remediation reports.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management activities.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration and support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL installation, configuration, backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Experience in vulnerability management and CVE remediation.
  • Knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
  • Familiarity with patch management, security hardening, and database upgrades.
  • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with scripting (Shell, Python, Bash).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and vulnerability management processes.
  • ITIL or relevant database certifications will be an advantage.

Engagement Model

  • Support and maintenance role with participation in incident response and planned maintenance activities.
  • Ability to support critical issue resolution during non-business hours when required.
