Senior Software Engineer AI Platform and3D Systems
Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for designing and delivering production software that supports the Company's creator platform and AI-assisted content creation workflows.
Reporting to the Engineering Research Manager, the role covers performance-critical C/C++ components, back-end and integration services, AI model and agent integration, and the reliability of production systems.
Working closely with product, editor, graphics, and platform teams, the Senior Software Engineer will convert approved technical approaches into reliable product features while contributing practical technical guidance and hands-on implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Software Architecture and Delivery
• Deliver assigned software projects through requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Design scalable and maintainable components in line with the technical roadmap, architecture direction, and engineering standards established by the Engineering Research Manager.
• Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions and document key design choices, interfaces, dependencies, and operational considerations.
• Recommend technology and system design choices, and escalate material architecture, security, delivery, and resource decisions to the Engineering Research Manager.
• Maintain automated tests, conduct code reviews, and support reliable release and maintenance processes for the components under the role's responsibility.
AI Assisted Product Engineering
• Prototype, evaluate, and implement approved AI-assisted capabilities for authoring, asset, and content workflows.
• Build Python or Node.js back-end, integration, and automation services that connect product workflows to approved large language models, AI agents, and external AI services.
• Develop evaluation and telemetry mechanisms to measure functional quality, reliability, latency, and compute cost.
• Implement controlled interfaces for external AI resource-generation services, including appropriate error handling, security, privacy, and usage controls.
• Work with product and engineering colleagues to move validated prototypes into maintainable production features.
3D and Performance Critical Systems
• Design and build performance-critical C/C++ components for editor, platform, and interactive 3D content workflows.
• Develop or integrate modules for image processing, computer vision, 3D data processing, visualization, or related creator-tool capabilities where required by the product.
• Support the translation of natural-language and component-based instructions into dependable editor and platform actions.
• Benchmark and optimise relevant implementations for generation performance, responsiveness, memory use, and stability.
• Collaborate with the Company's editor, graphics, and game-engine engineers to integrate new capabilities without disrupting established 3D and platform systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune production systems, and conduct structured root-cause analysis for material incidents.
Technical Collaboration and Mentoring
• Provide technical guidance, code-review feedback, and practical support to other engineers working on related modules.
• Coordinate project-level technical work and communicate delivery progress, dependencies, and technical risks to the Engineering Research Manager.
• Work closely with product managers and engineering colleagues to clarify requirements, sequence implementation work, and resolve delivery issues.
• Contribute to engineering documentation, shared practices, and continuous improvement while remaining an individual contributor with no direct reports initially.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 8 years of professional software development experience, including responsibility for the design and delivery of production systems.
• Strong programming skills in C or C++and practical experience with Python or Node.js.
• Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting distributed, high-concurrency, or other performance-sensitive production systems.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, data structures, networking, concurrency, testing, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience delivering software through technical design, implementation, code review, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Ability to analyse complex technical problems, compare implementation options, and explain recommendations and trade-offs clearly.
• Experience working with product and engineering teams to convert requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
• Ability to work within an established technical roadmap while taking ownership of assigned modules and delivery commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
