We're building a team of sharp, self-motivated accounting professionals who want variety, autonomy, and real impact without the constraints of a traditional in-house role. This engagement begins as a 1099 independent contractor arrangement, with the option to transition to full-time employment.

Job DescriptionAs an Accounting Manager at Promentrs, you will serve as a trusted, embedded accounting resource for our clients, functioning as a senior member of their accounting team while representing the quality and standards of Promentrs. You'll own the day-to-day accounting function, lead close processes, and provide the kind of thoughtful, organized financial management that gives executives the clarity to make better decisions.
What You'll Do
Financial Close & ReportingLead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance withU.S. GAAP Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and trial balance review Perform and oversee bank reconciliations and inter-company eliminations Generate financial reports and internal management packages that are clear, accurate, and decision-ready
Client Advisory & IntegrationIntegrate seamlessly into client organizations, acting as a senior member of their finance team Partner with client leadership to identify accounting issues, improve processes, and implement solutions Serve as a reliable point of contact for accounting questions, audit coordination, and cross-functional finance support Adapt quickly to varying industries, systems, and team structures
Controls, Compliance & Process ImprovementsDevelop, implement, and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements that increase accuracy and speed across the close cycle Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors as needed
Leadership & CollaborationEmbrace a mentorship mindset by sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and investing in the growth of junior team members and client staff; we believe that developing others is just as important as delivering results. Mentor and review the work of junior accountants or client staff as applicable Communicate complex accounting matters clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders Collaborate with Promentrs leadership to ensure consistent delivery quality and client satisfaction
What You BringBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA license strongly preferred, or active CPA candidate) Big 4 public accounting experience is highly preferred 8-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply technical standards across various industries and entity types Proven experience owning the full-cycle close process, not just participating in it Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and beyond);experience with common accounting platforms (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Intacct, or similar) preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can distill complexity into clear, actionable information Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing priorities across multiple engagements or deliverables Prior experience in public accounting, consulting, or a multi-client environment is a strong plus Entrepreneurial mindset; you take ownership, operate with integrity, and thrive without being micromanaged
AI (Artificial Intelligence)Demonstrated proficiency withAI tools is required, including active use of Claude Cowork; candidates should be comfortable leveraging AI to streamline workflows, automate routine tasks, analyze financial data, and enhance productivity across accounting and finance functions.

Engagement TermsThis position is structured as an independent contractor (1099) arrangement. Compensation is project- or hourly-based and will be discussed during the interview process based one experience, availability, and engagement scope. Conversion to a full-time employee role is available and actively encouraged for high-performing professionals.
