The Manager of Corporate Department Strategy & Operations (the “Manager”) serves as the strategic and operational partner to the Corporate Department Chairs, enabling department leadership to focus on long-term strategy while ensuring effective execution of departmental priorities. The Manager drives accountability across the Corporate Department, prepares leadership with business intelligence and analysis, coordinates quarterly practice reviews, and monitors implementation of strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Support to Department Chairs Design and manage the annual operating cadence for the Corporate Department, including quarterly business reviews with each practice group. Develop meeting agendas that focus discussion on strategic priorities and key business issues. Ensure department leadership has complete and current financial, business development, staffing, and performance information before each meeting, including concise briefing books with analysis, trends, and suggested discussion topics. Attend meetings with or on behalf of the Department Chairs, taking detailed notes and producing meeting summaries and action plans. Develop and maintain dashboards tracking practice group performance against agreed objectives, providing regular status updates to leadership. Alert the chairs when a practice group is falling behind expectations or when an issue requires intervention, escalating as appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
  • Practice Group Liaison Maintain regular contact with practice group leaders, serving as the primary point of contact between the Department Chairs and each practice group. Understand each practice group’s business priorities, challenges, and opportunities to inform department-level planning. Collect updates and relevant information from practice groups in advance of quarterly reviews. Coordinate development of annual business plans for each practice group, ensuring consistency of format and reporting across groups. Facilitate communication and coordination across practice groups for cross-practice initiatives and departmental matters.
  • Analysis & Business Intelligence Analyze financial and operational trends across practice groups, identifying patterns and insights for leadership consideration. Identify emerging risks, opportunities, and issues requiring leadership attention. Monitor execution of business plans, maintain an action tracker, and follow up with practice group leaders regarding commitments made during quarterly reviews.
  • Accountability & Execution Serve as the central coordinator for departmental initiatives, ensuring agreed action items are completed on schedule. Support the Department Chairs with special projects and strategic initiatives, including research, analysis, and presentation preparation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in operations, project management, or business management roles supporting senior leadership (law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate across teams, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ability to compile and present data effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with partners, associates, and Business Services colleagues.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.

Ideal Candidate Characteristics:

  • Highly proactive with exceptional organizational discipline; anticipates needs rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Intellectually curious with excellent business judgment; comfortable challenging assumptions constructively.
  • Able to influence senior partners and practice group leaders without formal authority.
  • Able to translate data into actionable recommendations and present complex information clearly.
  • Relentless follow-through; comfortable holding others accountable for commitments.

This position will require physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $180,000-$215,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
